EISA named the Pixel Plus Plasma FlatTV as the European Plasma Television of the Year 2003-2004 and the Pixel Plus LCD FlatTV as the European LCD Television of the Year 2003-2004.
'This is an unprecedented double-win for Philips,' said Robert van de Riet, CEO, Philips Country Organisation, UAE. 'To win EISA awards in both available flat-panel TV categories is a fantastic endorsement for our FlatTV range, and our Pixel Plus technology in particular.'
The awards represent the fourth and fifth EISA awards for Philips' FlatTV range and reinforce EISA's recognition of Philips' Pixel Plus technology, which garnered the European TV of the Year 2002-2003 award for the CRT.
EISA is the largest editorial multimedia organisation in Europe, with a membership of 50 audio, mobile electronics, video and photography magazines from 20 European countries. Each year EISA judges review the latest products from consumer electronics and photographic equipment manufacturers to determine the best in each category.
The EISA jury said that the Pixel Plus Plasma FlatTV 'gives the most detailed and lifelike images of any plasma TV on the market today. It's an ideal choice for high-impact, big-screen display of DVD, thanks to exceptionally strong colour reproduction and Philips' sophisticated Pixel Plus image enhancement technology.'
As for the Pixel Plus LCD FlatTV, the EISA judges said: 'With its built-in tuner, progressive scan and PC connectivity, plus Philips' proprietary Pixel Plus, Crystal Clear and Digital Natural Motion enhancements, this is one chic, smart TV set.'
Pixel Plus makes a breathtaking difference in the image definition of a standard television picture. By almost tripling the number of lines and pixels per line, and then improving the quality of each pixel, Pixel Plus creates visibly higher definition, enhancing details in a picture and making them more natural.
Furthermore, Pixel Plus distinguishes between standard TV broadcasts and digital sources, like DVD, to dynamically ensure optimum picture quality at all times.
'The two EISA award-winning Pixel Plus FlatTV sets are part of our line of 13 FlatTVs we are offering this year. Philips is committed to matching the increasing consumer demand for flat-panel television sets, and to that end we have introduced one of the most comprehensive ranges of plasma and LCD TV sets in the consumer electronics industry today,' said van de Riet.
European 'TV of the Year' awards for two Philips FlatTV models
Two Philips Pixel Plus FlatTVs were honoured with prestigious 'TV of the Year' awards from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA), Europe's largest multimedia magazine organization. This recognition continues Philips' dominance of the sector, where since 1991 it has won more EISA awards in the TV category than any other manufacturer.
