Emirates Post opens new post office at Dubai International Convention Centre

Emirates Post today announced the opening of a new post-office in the concourse hall of the Dubai International Convention Centre.

The post office, which will be used by the delegates at Dubai 2003 convention, will become a permanent post office to serve the needs of the area around the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The post office bears a modern design to portray the new image of post office as an integrated communications center . Apart from the routine postal services, the new post office will have a retail section, P.O. Boxes, an Internet service, display of old postal equipment and a philately section.

"Emirates Post is pleased to unveil its 'new concept' post-office at the Dubai International Convention Centre. Visitors from all over the world will be able to make use of the postal facilities in a pleasing ambience, catch glimpses of UAE's philatelic history and buy products from the retail section," said Mr. Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post. "We will use the new post office as a window to convey the image of a highly developed country that is committed to achieving excellence in the postal and related fields."

"This also marks the launch of 'new concept' post-offices by Emirates Post. Appropriately, the first of the new-look post-office is located in an area that has emerged as a vibrant hub for exhibitions, conventions and conferences all the year round," Mr. Al Daboos added. "We will offer all types of services to the consumers through this post office and add new services according to the demand."

The new post office sports an innovative design that is different from the normal post offices. The design theme is based on "Time and Direction," the main communication elements, and the concept of windows that runs through the interior design is used to express Emirates Post's global vision. There are four public counters which will be partly shared by DHL during the Dubai 2003 conference.

The post office also features an attractive island display case for philatelic area outlining the history and development of Emirates Post from 1909 to the present. There is also a zone for display of old postal equipment, such as weighing scales used in the 40s, post-marks, letters and stamps issued between1920 and 1961.
