Acer increases hold on Kuwait technology market

Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd. today announced it will build on the success it has achieved in Kuwait's notebook market by implementing a strategy to raise the profile of other innovative products from various lines aimed at the home-user and corporate markets.

In 2003, Acer recorded 85 percent growth on the previous year with its notebook sales in Kuwait. The success was achieved because the company offered competitive pricing, expanded the reseller network and made available a wide variety of models.

For 2004, Acer aims to achieve similar levels of success in the desktop, corporate PC, server and home entertainment sectors. Using the triumph in the notebook market as a benchmark for success, Acer is now deploying a plan to grow its business in the IT savvy Gulf state.

"Acer's aim is to increase its market share in Kuwait, which is one of the region's leading technology markets. To achieve our goals, Acer will offer top-quality products at reasonable prices to the consumer and corporate markets," said Philip Ashkar, director of sales and marketing, Acer Computer (M.E.) Ltd.

"Part of our strategy to increase Acer's market share in Kuwait involves raising the profile of the Acer brand, and that is why we are taking part in leading exhibitions such as Info & Connect 2004. By increasing our exposure to decision-makers from around the country, we are on the right track to boost our market share," added Ashkar.

Displaying new technology in Kuwait
At Info & Connect 2004, taking place at the Kuwait International Fairs Ground from February 7 - 13, Acer will have on display its largest ever range of mobile computing products.

Acer expects the TravelMate C110 - which includes Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology - to be popular with visitors the exhibition, says Ashkar.

The company's display will also satisfy visitors interested in SME and enterprise products and solutions with the latest range of Veriton desktops including the 3600G, 5600G and 7600G series models. Designed to satisfy the needs of small, medium and large sized companies, the new Acer Veriton series PCs are based on the most recent IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 processors with Hyper-Threading™ technology, for the highest performance.

Also catering the corporate market, Acer will showcase its wide range of servers that provide Middle East enterprises with reliability, accessibility, serviceability, usability, and manageability in the corporate computing environment.

The company will meet the needs of the home entertainment market by exhibiting the Aspire RC500/RC900 which is the company's first product from its range of entertainment-based desktop PCs. The RC500/900 is expected to be popular with Kuwait's consumers based on its ability to do everything from play movies and music to broadcast television and store photographs.
