The event, which is set to take place from 4 to 7 March at the Emirates Golf Club, has once again attracted a strong field of high profile international players competing for the coveted trophy.

'The Dubai Desert Classic's philosophy is identical to that of 'The World' projects, in that we are both keen to demonstrate that Dubai is full of culture, enthusiasm, innovation and excellence', said Wahid Attalla, Director of Operations for Nakheel. 'Ultimately we hold a shared vision to showcase Dubai as one of the world's greatest destinations'.

'Nakheel is an avid supporter of this world class tournament and we look forward to a long term partnership with the event over the coming years', continued Attalla.

Positioned to be Dubai's most exclusive property development yet, 'The World' will consist of 250 islands strategically positioned to form the shape of the world map. The investors in the selected islands will have the option of utilising them for private or commercial use.

Each island will range from 250,000 to 900,000 square feet in size, with 50 to 100 metres of water between each island. To further enhance the privacy of these exclusive islands the only mode of transport to them will be via water.

Besides Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) as the main sponsor of the Dubai Desert Classic, The World by Nakheel, CNN International, Arabian Ranches by Emaar and Samsung as co-sponsors, other sponsors include Emirates as official airline and Hole In One Sponsor, official caterer, hotel and challenge match sponsor Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa, official bank, National Bank of Dubai, official courtesy car BMW, and event newspaper Gulf News.
