The course, reaffirming the Emirates Group's commitment to effective training for maintaining the highest level of onboard security, was carried out in partnership with Edith Cowan University of Perth, Western Australia.

Emirates' Chairman, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, and Professor Anthony Watson, Pro Vice Chancellor of Edith Cowan University, presented the Diploma certificates to the thirty graduates, most of whom are Emirates Group employees, plus one Dubai Police Officer.

Delivering the opening address, Maurice Flanagan, Emirates' Vice Chairman and Group President, said: "We are very pleased to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2001 with Edith Cowan University; the first initiative of which is this year-long diploma course in Aviation Security Management.

"Balancing work, family commitments and study is never an easy task. I would like to congratulate the 30 graduates on their successful completion of the course."

The course in Aviation Security Management, which is also available to the public, involves home study and monthly tutorials held at the Emirates Aviation College, with examinations assessed and graded by Edith Cowan University.
