- PRESS RELEASE
Following reports from across America and the EMEA region, Trend Micro has issued a red alert on the latest variant of the Netsky worm, indicating high damage and distribution potential, and a large number of confirmed infections.
"The Worm has already been reported in the Middle East, so it is important for business users to remain vigilant. The region is not insulated from this threat," added Doo.
As with the recent Mydoom outbreak, this mass-mailing worm propagates through its own SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) engine, and leaves copies of itself in network shares. It is using a variety of email details as it spreads.
