"Trend Micro rarely takes the step of issuing a red alert for security threats, but the number of reports we have received worldwide has made this measure advisable to convey the potential seriousness of this outbreak," said Justin Doo, Managing Director at Trend Micro, Benelux, Middle East and Africa.

"The Worm has already been reported in the Middle East, so it is important for business users to remain vigilant. The region is not insulated from this threat," added Doo.

As with the recent Mydoom outbreak, this mass-mailing worm propagates through its own SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) engine, and leaves copies of itself in network shares. It is using a variety of email details as it spreads.
