- PRESS RELEASE
Mr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Banna, the Deputy Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry assured that the DCCI is prepared to support the Palestinian presence in the medical markets in Dubai and the UAE.
"We are ready to help you overcome any difficulties you may face in marketing the Palestinian medicinal products in the UAE" commented Mr. Al Banna in a meeting with a delegation from the Union of Palestinian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, headed by Mr. Majid Nazzal, the executive director of the union. Mr. Al Banna clarified that the Palestinian union could also benefit from the re-exporting policy adopted by Dubai, which helps promote a large number of products in a huge market stretching over the neighboring countries, the subcontinent, and commonwealth countries amongst others.
The union represents all of the Palestinian companies operating in this field, and 50% of their production goes to the local market, and the other half is exported. The Palestinian companies abide with international standards, and most of them have been awarded international certificates such as "ISO" and others.
In the meeting, they also discussed issues surrounding exportation policies for pharmaceutical products followed by the UAE, and abiding to WTO regulations. In this context, Al Banna explained that the UAE market is an open one.
Mr. Al Banna also pointed out that the DCCI has established amongst the business groups operating under its umbrella, a Pharmaceuticals & Health Equipments Trading Group, which specializes in all the issues surrounding this sector.
