- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, April 07 - 2004 at 10:18
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai eGovernment highlighted a host of its initiatives aimed at accelerating the pace of Emiratisation at Career Fair 2004, the annual event which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 6 to 8, 2004.
The Dubai eGovernment stand at the Career Fair 2004 is primarily focused on eJob, the centralized recruitment system that brings on one electronic platform, job seekers and recruiting departments, and eLearn, which offers online learning courses in different disciplines.
"Dubai eGovernment is extremely delighted to participate once again in Career Fair 2004, a major bridge between job seekers and job providers," said Salem Al Shair, Director eServices, Dubai eGovernment. "Our commitment to Emiratisation focuses on policies aimed at encouraging interaction between job seekers and employers. Our team at Career Fair 2004 are fully geared to provide every type of assistance to visitors at the fair."
"Dubai eGovernment's close interaction with government departments has enabled us to bring the various departments under one platform. As a result, we have created a system that allows all departments to access common services, such as eJob," Al Shair said. "eJob has simplified the task of job hunting by creating a state-of-the-art online recruitment system. It enables job seekers to place their curriculum vitae (CVs) online which can be accessed by all government departments, thus ensuring maximum visibility to the applicant's credentials."
eJob, available as an online link on the Dubai eGovernment portal, offers an integrated search for jobs posted by the various government departments. It allows job seekers to scan the available vacancies and apply online.
"The campaign to encourage UAE nationals to join the job mainstream needs to be supported by measures that provide them added skills necessary to cope with today's job market requirements," said Al Shair. "This can be achieved through special courses and job-related training programmes. Dubai eGovernment is pleased to provide a series of online trainings that can help UAE nationals improve their chances of getting jobs in the private and public sectors. Our eLearn reflects our commitment to make it easy for UAE nationals to undergo training courses of their choice."
The various courses available under eLearn are showcased at the Dubai eGovernment stand. Dedicated teams are on hand to advise job seekers and students on how best to make use of the eLearn platform for acquiring new skills.
Apart from providing a window on career opportunities in government sector companies, Dubai eGovernment's participation at Career Fair 2004 highlighted the job opportunities available within the department.
"Dubai eGovernment is the driving force behind automation and integration of government eServices. The back-end systems that run Dubai eGovernment need to be managed by young specialists and these openings are set to rise further as we expand our operations by adding more channels and diversifying our offering," Al Shair added.
Dubai eGovernment is placing a strong focus on IT jobs available in the Emirate, in view of the large-scale investments being made by the government in the IT sector. According to independent market research, the IT market in the GCC is set to grow to US$ 8 billion by 2005, a scenario that will generate countless new jobs in this sector.
"The core of Dubai eGovernment is Information Technology. The same holds true for the city of Dubai, as it has emerged as the regional dynamo of knowledge economy and innovations in technology," said Al Shair. "This scenario will create a diversity of IT-related jobs. As we clearly understand the dynamics of the IT market, we are in a strong position to advise young UAE nationals on the type of jobs that are in demand, and help them focus on areas with the biggest scope."
"The annual Career Fair has been rendering unparalleled services to National students, year after year. As Emiratisation gathers increased momentum, the event has acquired greater importance," Al Shair added. "It is the national duty of each organisation and individual to support such an event. Dubai eGovernment is fully committed to supporting this major initiative that has made a significant contribution to educating job seekers on the market scenario and enlightening employers on the role nationals can play in the job market."
