Poetry on water unveiled with the launch of the latest 'Water Homes'
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, May 05 - 2004 at 15:28
- PRESS RELEASE
The newest addition to The Palm, Jebel Ali is a poetic verse composed by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, which translates to 'It takes a man of vision to write on water; Great men rise to great challenges'.
According to Nakheel, these exclusive waterfront residences are the second phase in the development of the Water Homes project and are in response to extraordinary demand from investors from the launch of the first phase at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2003. In addition, the verse from the initial phase of homes compliments the newly revealed poem and translates to "Take wisdom from the wise people; Not everyone who rides a horse is a jockey", which received world-wide attention when unveiled last year.
"Nakheel has made available many new Water Homes, launched at this year's ATM, which will undoubtedly add to The Palm, Jebel Ali's appeal for investors interested in the homes for residential or vacation purposes. Since the first phase of water Homes were so popular when unveiled last year, Nakheel wants to ensure that more investors can take part in this ground-breaking concept of a home that contributes to a poem on water," said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman, Nakheel.
The four-bedroom Water Homes will have beautiful timber finishing and a ground terrace, which surrounds the Water Home from all sides that will provide extraordinary views. As well, there will be stunning views from the large windows in each house. The exterior of the house will have a tropical feel with "palm-tree-like" material on the roof and timber for the remainder of the home.
Along with the two phases of Water Homes, The Palm, Jebel Ali has approximately six marinas, which will be able to berth more than 1,000 boats and yachts. A cruise liner will also be developed and is planned to be placed at the marina in the middle of the Crescent where an opening in the Crescent is wide enough to permit large cruise ships to pass.
The trunk is a perfect investment opportunity for resort hotels, as there are approximately 29 hotels planned and many other touristic developments, such as a Sea Village. In addition, the Crescent of The Palm, Jebel Ali will have plots of land to be sold for luxury apartment buildings or even hotel apartments. A few if these plots have already been sold as there is strong demand for this exclusive waterfront property. Investors will be able to build and maintain their own developments as per guidelines provided by Nakheel.
The Water Homes are being positioned as elevated retreat homes and will be built in a pattern to form verses from two of Sheikh Mohammed's poems, situated one metre above the water, with private docks. Launched in May 2003, the Water Homes will provide and unparalleled residential or holiday location and will be made from concrete foundation poles and a wooden structure. The depth of the water below will be approximately 8 to 10 metres. Boardwalk access to a common parking area and private moorings for personal boats will be provided for each four-bedroom Water Home.

About The PalmThe Palm involves the creation of the world's largest two man-made islands known as The Palm, Jumeirah and The Palm, Jebel Ali. Located just off the coast of the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the two palm tree shaped islands are expected to contribute to the city's position as a premier global tourist destination. The project will increase Dubai's shoreline by a total of 120km and create a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment opportunities, all within a unique and inspiring setting.
The creation of The Palm is an extraordinary project of grand proportions. Comprised of approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand, the islands together will eventually support over 60 luxury hotels, 4000 exclusive residential beachside villas, over 5,000 shoreline apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities, health spas, dive sites and cinemas.
The vision of The Palm was conceived by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister. Construction commenced in June 2001 after many years of research and planning. Each island will take approximately two years to be completely raised from the sea. A further two to three years will be required to complete the infrastructure and the buildings. The end-result will be the creation of two virtually self-contained communities within the islands.
