The unique in-flight shopping service is the result of a partnership with Jashanmal and Sons and duty free suppliers and specialists, Aer Rianta. To be introduced initially on Gulf Air flights between Bahrain and London, Bookshop in the Sky will soon be available on all the airline's long haul flights.
In addition to sales of bestsellers and new publications from popular authors, the service will also feature screen interviews with authors, and signed copies for selected titles. Later additions to the Bookshop will include signed copies of the latest paperback bestseller by Frederick Forsyth, Avenger.
Mr Kernick, the author of several crime novels, and also The Murder Exchange, which is the first book to be released on board, will, in addition to signing the copies on board, also sign copies for members of the public in Bahrain at Jashanmal's Booksplus outlet in Seef Mall at 8.00pm on 16 June.
John Butler, Gulf Air's Vice President of Marketing and Sales, said: 'The introduction of yet another unique service, following on the success of our five star chefs and Sky Nannies, demonstrates our commitment to innovations that will enhance the travel experience of every customer.'
'Bookshop in the Sky is just the latest in a series of innovations that will make a flight on Gulf Air an even more pleasurable experience. We are extremely proud to be a partner in this latest innovation,' said Bharat Jashanmal, Managing Director of Booksplus.
