The event, held on June 15th at the Intercontinental Hotel Amman, gave Jordan's education leaders from the government and private sectors the opportunity to hear from Sun executives the latest news on the company's products, services and directions for the year ahead.
At the seminar, organized by Sun partner STS Jordan, attendees heard how the Sun Java Enterprise System (JES) has changed the enterprise software industry with a radical, new approach to how software is designed and developed. Sun has recently invigorated its line up for the education sector with a combination of products including JES, Java Desktop System, and StarOffice.
'Our aim at Sun is to make it clear to Jordan's education sector how useful our Java Enterprise System is in running a cost-effective organization,' said Tarek Ayass, Sales Manager, Education and Research, Sun Microsystems MENA. 'The Java Enterprise System combines software and services as a single entity, for a single price, per students, per year.'
As part of the seminar, attendees discovered how Sun works to develop tools and technologies that provide students with a learning advantage. 'Sun's Java computing strategy is set to thrive in Jordan's education market given its affordability, its ease of use and its open standards foundation,' he said.
Benefits of Sun's Java Enterprise System includes better control over software variables such as licensing, planning, and deployment through all-in-one license costs, quarterly release schedule and real-world testing.
