Oman-based Majan College to offer new MBA degree in cooperation with Luton University in the UK

Majan University College, the largest University College in the Sultanate of Oman, which is owned by the Dubai-based DAMAC Group, announced that it would be offering new executive MBA degree programme in marketing in cooperation with the UK-based University of Luton, as of the next academic year 2004/2005.
"We are constantly looking into our teaching curriculums and trying to update and improve them and see what is the best education we can offer our younger generation to prepare them for the tasks at hand. The new MBA programme will help our students increase their knowledge and work experience and support them in their professional career," he said.
A partnership with the University of Luton, UK, ensures an international curriculum based on the UK model. The college is also center for High National Diploma (HND) awarded by the University of Luton, the Dean stated.
He noted that the new MBA programme was designed and tailor-made to meet the requirements of the labour market in Oman.
"We always make sure that we offer courses that respond to the employment market and needs of our community, especially that we are gearing all our students to secure good jobs after graduation," Dean Al Sawafi said.
He pointed out that most of the graduates of the college were able to secure good employment with public and private sector companies across Oman, thanks to the modern and practical educational programmes on offer by the college.

"As a leading university college in Oman we were able to graduate and assist thousands of our students to secure interesting and challenging positions with leading government and private sector companies such as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Oman, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the Ministry of Defense and many more institutions in here," Dr. Al Sawafi added.
He noted that the college, which was the first private college funded in Oman in 1995, is working to meet the challenge of developing teaching programmes around the interests of the student and goals, thereby creating a synthesis or thinking and reading.
He said the Ministry of Labour in Oman has acknowledged, in 2003, the important role the school played in helping in the recruitment of Omanis across the country.
"We have 400 part -time students enrolled with us who attend evening classes as they are working for various private and public institutions during day time and we think this is very encouraging because they are working to improve their skills and work performance," The Dean said.
The college boasts fully equipped facilities including 12,000 books and periodicals in the library, over 300 computers, 10 laboratories, plus high quality technology backed by access to 32,000 academic journals, have made Majan College, one of the top educational establishments in the region.
