This is the first time the Centre has ventured outside the UAE to deliver its training courses.
The two-week training programme was supervised by Ms. Wiaam Shihab Ghanem, Manager, Training and Development Centre, and conducted by Syed Qadi, a trainer from the Training and Development Centre.
Ali Mohamed al-Ali, Chairman, General Postal Corporation, Qatar, remarked: 'This is the first time that a training team from Emirates Post has come to Qatar to deliver training to our employees. We believe this will increase mutual cooperation and help us derive benefit from Emirates Post's Training and Development Centre which offers modern facilities and advanced training tools. We have plans to develop our own training centre in the near future in collaboration with Emirates Post's Training and Development Centre.'
'We appreciate Qatar Post's priority for developing human resources through professional training. This is the first step on the road to boosting performance and productivity. The Training and Development Centre of Emirates Post is designed to build strong Human Resources. Since moving to a new building, we have provided training to over 1,000 participants in customer care, team building, technical skills and supervisory responsibilities. We are now in a position to provide training to regional postal organizations and thus contribute to the success of the job nationalisation programmes,' said Ms. Wiaam.
'Our programmes match the standards set by Universal Postal Union (UPU) under its TRAINPOST programme. UPU has recently given accreditation to the Training and Development Centre. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UPU under which the Centre will serve as the regional base for all training programs organized by UPU. In addition, all our courses will be posted on the Arabic website of UPU to allow postal employees from the Arab world to benefit from our offering,' added Ms. Wiaam. 'We are keeping abreast of the latest developments in training technique by sending our trainers for advanced training overseas, so that our trainees can benefit from their expertise.'
