PWC Logistics awarded contract for IT and logistics services

PWC Logistics, the leading provider of comprehensive supply chain solutions in the Middle East, today announced they have been awarded a KD9.3 million (USD31.5 million) contract for IT and logistics services.

Under the terms of this agreement, PWC will install advanced supply chain execution systems in the contracted facilities and manage all warehousing and container yard operations. The EXceed 4000 Warehouse Management System (WMS) software application will be the backbone of the operation. EXceed 4000 WMS is a state-of-the-art warehouse management system which enables the efficient tracking and handling of goods within a warehouse facility. Hand-held radio frequency (RF) communication devices and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags will be used to accurately record the movement of all goods both within the facilities and the yard. PWC will also provide all required manpower and material handling equipment.

Tarek Sultan Al-Essa, PWC's Chairman & Managing Director, commented, "Our highly scalable IT infrastructure and proven operating processes enabled us to respond rapidly to this new business opportunity."

The total size of the warehousing operation is approximately 100,000 square meters and the contract is for one year and includes a renewal option.
