The announcement was made at a press conference held during the meetings of Jordan ICT Forum, currently taking place at the Dead Sea with the participation of 600 regional and international delegates representing leaders of the industry.
Fastlink Brainbox was initiated to provide a nurturing environment for technology based companies that have a potential to grow into powerful profit making enterprises and also to offer investment capital to startups or ventures in the early stages of establishment.
Fastlink Marketing Director Bashar Arafeh said:' The move, in cooperation with businesses in the communications technology sector, is primarily aimed at contributing to the development of the industry in Jordan. 'It works by setting the stage for entrepreneurs with creative ideas and pioneering business prospects to take their ideas into the marketplace and turn them into promising ventures.'
Arafeh pointed that 'the incubator targets young Jordanian entrepreneurs who need a push in the right direction to transform their ideas into profitable businesses.'
Fastlink's Brainbox is more than an incubator. Apart from the usual office space and venture capital that is provided by other incubators, Fastlink offers a set of added value services, including strategic and marketing consultation as well as advice on turnkey infrastructure and public relations activities in addition to training.
Through its professional management team, Fastlink guides investors into the shortest and most effective way to bring their business ideas into existence, according to Arafeh. The concept came to support His Majesty King Abdullah initiatives that aim to transform the Kingdom into an information bases society and assert its position as a leader in the export of creative technologies, he added.
Arafeh called on the young entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity availed by Fastlink's incubator, which will serve as a nucleus for promising businesses and contribute to economic growth in the Kingdom.
He said 'field studies and research conducted by Fastlink have proven the emerging need for this vital project, which is seen as an innovative addition to efforts geared towards the development of communication technologies that meet the needs of society.'
Brainbox in particular targets business ideas and projects in the wireless and communications technology sector that enhances people's life and serve a broad spectrum of the society.
Fastlink, which serves in excess of one million subscribers, seeks to remain in the forefront of private sector businesses and continue to assume a major role in the national economy as a leading service provider of high tech solutions and products.
Fastlink Business Development Manager Samer Bazyan said 'through Brainbox, Fastlink would help Jordanian companies access new markets abroad and benefit from the company's market share in regional and international markets where the mother company MTC operates.'
Aside from helping young Jordanian entrepreneurs expand their businesses in regional markets, Bazyan said the project is set to generate work opportunities for Jordanian youth and invigorate the national economy.
He noted that a specialized company team would evaluate the proposed business ideas and present their opinions on what projects to be incubated.
The incubator is designed to provide all the necessary requirements for the development of a project, including office space, financial support, access to Fastlink networks, consultation, stage for experiments, in addition to marketing services on the local, regional and international levels, namely in markets where MTC is operational.
