ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. signs sponsorship contract with Qatar Sports International

Announcing a "triple first", as Qatar Sports International (QSi) tonight signed with ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. (EMQI), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, as a Gold Event Partner of the 17th Arabian Gulf Cup being held in Doha December 10-24.
The sponsorship contract was signed at the impressive new corporate headquarters of the Qatar National Olympic Committee in Doha, by Mr. Wayne Harms, President and General Manager of EMQI and by Mr. Khalifa Al Subaey, Executive Director of QSI.
The 17th Arabian Gulf Cup tournament is a premier sporting event in the region and has enjoyed the interest and passion of a wide cross section of the regional peoples over its 34 year history. The welcome return of Iraq and the presence once again of Yemen are sure to enhance this year's tournament like non before. In addition to soccer, three more sports have been added so that the tournament will now include basketball, volleyball and handball. The expansion of both the participants and sports will make the 17th Arabian Gulf Cup a unique sporting event reaching out to over 80 million consumers in the Gulf region.
The State of Qatar is laying a solid foundation for continued progress and development on many fronts, particularly in relation to regional and international sporting competitions.

Qatar is known for successfully hosting major international sporting and cultural events. Exxon Mobil Corporation affiliates have had a presence in Qatar since 1935. Qatar Petroleum and EMQI are currently working together to diversify the use of the North Field gas into new areas in addition to LNG, including the supply of pipeline gas to domestic and regional customers, Gas-to-Liquids and other projects.
QSi is the Qatar National Olympic Committee's own sports business directorate established by the President QNOC in 2003.
QSi was granted the exclusive marketing rights to the 17th Arabian Gulf Cup in April this year. Under this agreement QSi has developed a comprehensive package of benefits which is fast attracting critical acclaim of international companies, such as ExxonMobil.
Its role is to develop professionalism and cost effectiveness in the sporting development of Qatar. In its brief history it has achieved corporate international and technical sponsorships for the QNOC, managed major international sports business expo's and conferences, sports and leisure events, whilst acting as the catalyst for development of major new global sports business initiatives, to the benefit of the country.
