'There are essentially two primary glass-related problems that Dubai has successfully countered. They are the nature of the hot and sunny climate, and the growing demand for a complete façade of glass in the architecture of most modern buildings. More so than in any other part of the world, Dubai is now internationally recognized for putting into place corrective measures that ensure the glass that is manufactured and installed is of the highest, premium quality, and more importantly, goes a long way to controlling energy consumption and protecting the environment,' said Jerry Dowling.
It is widely recognized by experts that there are three major factors influencing the type of glass used in manufacturing and installation. Of primary importance is the aesthetic appearance that determines the type of glass that is required, when considering the overall construction of the building. Second is the night view aspect of the glass that maintains low indoor reflection during the night, and also provides maximum nighttime visibility. The third and most crucial factor is the ability to provide glass with energy-saving capabilities.
'In the modern construction industry, energy saving has become an issue of the highest importance. There is a continuing conflict of interest between the vision of the architect and the necessary requirements of glass to be environmentally effective. Especially in a climate like that of Dubai, where soaring temperatures require innovative glass designs to combat the threat of excessive heat, importance attached to the energy-saving potential of glass sometimes outstrips aesthetic considerations. This is the main reason why I rank Dubai as amongst the best when it comes to energy saving glass production,' added Jerry Dowling.
Moreover, Emirates Glass is the only company in the region that is concerned with high performance glass coatings and their specific relevance to hot climates. Through its EmiCool range of products, Emirates Glass continuously strives to create the most cost-effective and environmentally adaptable product to suit the needs of the market.
