The 27-year-old actor will be arriving on December 5, one day before the six-day Festival kicks off, with co-stars from the Rings trilogy, family members and actor friends.

Bloom, also known for his performances in Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Hawk Down, will be on the red carpet prior to the Festival's opening gala with actress Flora Montgomery and fellow Rings star Billy Boyd. Boyd played Peregrin 'Pippin Took' in the Tolkien-inspired trilogy.

"We are delighted to have Orlando as a guest of the Dubai International Film Festival," said Neil Stephenson, Festival Director and CEO. "He has become one of Hollywood's biggest names in a short period of time, and his presence here will add excitement to the kickoff of our Festival."

Bloom, Montgomery and Boyd join the growing list of celebrities coming to Dubai's first Film Festival. The Grudge star Sarah Michelle Gellar, better known for her role as the kick-boxing vampire slayer Buffy, and renowned actor-director Morgan Freeman have also confirmed their attendance, as have French heartthrob Nicolas Cazale, British-Indian director Gurinder Chadha, Indian star Anil Kapoor and world statesman Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Preparations for the Festival are in their final stages, with operational headquarters moving from Dubai Media City to the Madinat Jumeirah, the epicenter of the Festival; industry delegates, actors and directors flying in from around the world, and key venues being readied for the opening on Monday night.

More than 75 films will be shown across the six Festival venues for the six days of the Festival. Crowning the first five days will be the gala screenings - Le Grand Voyage, Bollywood/Hollywood, Finding Neverland, The Grudge and Red Dust - selected from the key segments of the Festival.
