Free lessons for golfers of all standards at Dubai Desert Classic
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, February 28 - 2005 at 14:58
- PRESS RELEASE
Seven of the top teaching professionals on the UAE golfing scene will be offering their expert advice free of charge during the Dubai Desert Classic this week courtesy of a series of daily clinics hosted by Dubai Golf.
Over the four days, the PGA-qualified teaching pros on call to sort out shanks, hooks and slices are Simon Mees and Cyril Rozes from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and Nicky Lawrenson, David Adams and Peter Bailey who are all employed at the renowned Peter Cowen Academy based at the Emirates Golf Club. Completing the line-up are Simon Plumb and Mathew Tipper from the Nad Al Sheba Club.
"Every year our clinics get more and more popular not just with seasoned players but also with complete beginners," said Dubai Golf Managing Director Rod Bogg.
"Those of varying handicaps might want to improve on certain parts of their game, while those with no experience might just want to learn a little more.
"And that's one of the great things about the free clinics - people who have never picked up golf club in their lives can find out if the game is for them without having to go to any expense."
On Thursday through to Saturday (March 3-5), the Dubai Golf Clinics will operate from 10am-1pm and from 2pm-5pm, while on the final day of the Desert Classic (March 6) the opening hours will be from 10am-1pm only.
"The complimentary golf lessons are available to anyone visiting the Desert Classic and are a great way of introducing the basics of golf to absolute beginners," added Bogg. "Each private lesson will last 15 minutes and will address anything you want to improve about your game."
Registration for the complimentary Dubai Golf Clinics will be at the Emirates Golf Club's practice range next to the golf village. For those interested in teeing up for the first time - or for more experienced golfers hoping to iron out flaws in their game - only one lesson per person will be allowed to ensure maximum participation and will be provided on a first come-first served basis.
Besides Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) as the main sponsor of the Dubai Desert Classic, CNN International, Arabian Ranches by Emaar, Nakheel, and Samsung as co-sponsors, other sponsors include: Emirates as official airline and Hole In One Sponsor; official caterer, hotel and challenge match sponsor Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa; Official Bank National Bank of Dubai; official courtesy car BMW; and event newspaper Gulf News.
