Starting 1st April, Emirates will serve Kuwait with three flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; two flights on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; and one flight on Tuesdays.
The new additional service flight EK 859 will depart Dubai every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2035 to arrive in Kuwait at 2115. Flight EK 860 will return from Kuwait at 2225 to reach Dubai at 0100 the next day. The schedule has been carefully planned to enable busy executives to return home after attending business meetings and conferences all day.
Emirates will deploy its Airbus A310-300 on the route in a two class configuration - 21 in Business and 177 in Economy. This will boost Emirates' total seat offering to Kuwait from 3000 to 4150 per week - an increase of almost 40 per cent. The new service also offers an additional 50 tonnes of cargo to this import-intensive country, expanding the total freight payloads available to 215 tonnes per week.
Hamad Obaidalla, Emirates' Senior Vice President - Commercial - Gulf, Middle East & Iran said: 'We commenced services to Kuwait in 1989, and the announcement of our new frequency serves to highlight the country's importance on our route network. Both Dubai and Kuwait are long-standing business partners with well-defined commercial links and have commenced several long-term projects that encourage travel and trade between the two states.
'Dubai's outstanding leisure and entertainment facilities, shopping, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) events are attracting a large number of visitors from Kuwait.'
Emirates' new frequency will complement the current services that include daily flight EK 857, which departs Dubai at 1615, and flight EK 855, in a three-class configuration, that leaves at 0745 four days a week - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Emirates SkyCargo helps Kuwait import food, construction materials, vehicles, spare parts and other items from the U.S., Japan, Germany, China, UK, Italy and France - all countries on the airline's fast-growing network. In October, the cargo division opened a spanking new office in Kuwait, located just 10 minutes from the airport terminal.
Emirates steps up services to Kuwait
Emirates is escalating its services between Dubai and Kuwait from the current 11 to 16 flights every week, powered by strong growth in demand and preference for its operations.
