The new office in Sri Lanka is strategically located to provide the increasing number of vessels sailing from Middle East to the Far East with a reliable supply of bunker fuels.
Lars P. Heisselberg, GAC Group Vice President, Shipping Services, says the opening of the Sri Lanka bunker office is a natural expansion move for the Group, as GAC is not only amongst the country's foremost shipping agents, but is also one of its leading logistics and offshore marine support services provider.
"Current economic forecasts indicate that Sri Lanka is expecting a GDP growth of around 4% this year. This means more cargo handled, which will have a positive effect on the number of vessels calling at the country's ports," he added.
Starting March 1, the new bunker office will offer dedicated bunker supply services to ships at the Sri Lankan ports of Colombo and Galle, and ships transiting the busy east-west shipping lanes, enhances GAC's worldwide bunker activities.
Sri Lanka is the sixth GACBF office in a network already established in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, South Africa, and Egypt. Global bunker requirements are co-ordinated from these locations.
IFO Fuel Oil and MGO will be available for delivery either by barge or road tank. GAC Bunker Fuels is BVQI ISO 9002 accredited.
