Several Qatari websites participated in the competition five of which won one of the top three positions in their categories. Those websites were:
• AlJazeera.net, which won the Golden Award for Press and Media
• Foreign Information Agency, which won the Silver Award for Press and Media
• AlQaradawi.net, which won the Silver Award for Culture and Education
• Academy for Sports Excellence (ASPIRE), which won the Bronze Award for Culture and Education
• iHorizons' corporate website, which won the Golden Award for Information and Communication Technology.
It is worth mentioning that all the winning websites were developed by the Qatari company iHorizons which in the past few years was able to develop a number of content management solutions that enabled many Qatari and Arab organizations to establish advanced and dynamic websites.
iHorizons CEO, Mr. Mohamad Takriti said, "This event is not only a proof of Qatar's advanced position in Content Management Solutions, but also a proof of the high quality of Qatari websites. We are very proud that our Company with its Arab human resources was able to develop websites that would achieve such a marvelous accomplishment."
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Mahmoud, AlJazeera.net Editor in Chief said, "This Award is a clear evidence of the success of Arab journalism in utilizing revolutionary solutions in communication and informatics to serve delivering news promptly and accurately to the Arab audience wherever they are. It is also a proof of the ability of Arab resources to develop high quality and distinguished technological solutions."
It is important to note here that some of the winning websites are providing information in multiple languages, such as the Foreign Information Agency in Qatar, which is providing news and information in eight different languages. This is due to the fact that iHorizons content management solutions were structured to support the development of multi-lingual websites.
