Knet to host NLP training sessions

Knet, the Dubai-based training consultancy, will host a series of Neuro-Linguistic Programming training sessions in September. Sara Haboubi, who will hold the classes, says NLP can contribute to a company's bottom line by helping staff with motivation, improved performance and productivity and better relationships. Courses are certified by the American Board of NLP.

NCB appoints credit risk trainer

National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia has appointed PIC Solutions to provide credit and risk training for the bank's staff. The training programme will include the development of bank-specific credit and risk training modules, exercises, case studies and simulation software that will then be used to train NCB's managerial personnel.

AUST upgrades IT programmes

Ajman University of Science and Technology has upgraded many of its IT programmes to meet the increasing demands of students and employers. The Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering said the improvements will be introduced by adapting programmes proposed by the American Computer Association, and by analysing the needs of local market executives and managers.

UAE businesswoman addresses US

Mrs Raja Essa Al Gurg, Board Member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and President of Dubai and UAE Businesswomen's Council, gave the keynote speech at an event in Kentucky, USA, aimed at boosting ties between the USA and the Arab World. Mrs Al Gurg discussed the misconceptions of Muslim women and highlighted the prominent role they play in Middle East business life.

DMC installs IBM IT infrastructure

Dubai Men's College announced plans to establish sophisticated IT infrastructure for its new Dubai campus, which is set to open in September 2004. IBM Global Services will implement the system. The infrastructure will allow DMC's 2,300 students access to advanced educational technology.

DM poised to open training centre

Dubai Municipality is poised to open a Dhs5.3 mn training centre for the government agency's staff. The centre will boast eight fully equipped multi-purpose training halls with state-of-the-art audio-visual systems, as well as purpose-built halls for English language courses, and computer labs.

Tanmia, the employment authority for UAE nationals, has launched a training course to help job-seekers acquire the skills required for call centre work. A group of 21 students has already embarked on the first of the 8 week courses, which cover skills such as communication, problem solving, stress management and response techniques.

Kowledgenetwork, the Dubai-based training consultancy, has unveiled its Masters Certificate in Project Management, which begins in September. The course can be taken on its own, or as part of an MBA from Regis University. Alan Patching, a leading authority on project management, will head the programme.

Al Khawarizmi wins Microsoft accreditation

Al Khawarizmi Institute, the Abu Dhabi-based IT centre, has been granted the status of Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions. Al Khawarizmi has received its Learning Solutions competency, which qualifies it as an accredited centre for the technical training of all Microsoft technical software products.
