Dubai Municipality has approved a USD29m project for expanding the Dubai Women's College campus in Al Qusais. The project involves extension to the existing college campus constructing eight educational blocks, three lecture halls, auditorium, students' centre, gymnasium and other works that begin in August and end by mid-2006.

Emirates held a graduation ceremony at Parafield Airport, South Australia, for ten successful participants of its ab-initio commercial pilot training programme with the BAE Systems Flight Training College in Adelaide. Researchers from the UAE University found that schoolgirls as young as five are showing signs of obesity, reported Gulf News. Some 900 schoolgirls in Al Ain were examined between the ages of five and 14, and one in six was obese. Obesity is a major cause of health problems in the UAE.

Registration is now open at the Education Ministry for scholarships from the Bahrain Monetary Agency. Bahraini students who graduated from the commerce stream in secondary school with 97 per cent or above are eligible to register for the five scholarships in accounting, banking and finance, marketing, business information systems and management.
The ICDL GCC Foundation has announced its support for UAE University and Zayed University efforts to offer 2,000 UAE national high school students the opportunity to acquire the ICDL certificates at summer camps. The foundation is supporting these programmes on the basis of being the regional arm of European Computer Driving Licence.
