New safety guidelines affecting 44 Indian Board schools in the GCC have been issued to head teachers, reported Gulf News. However, head teachers said that generally Gulf schools were operating to good safety standards, and pointed out that the regulations were mainly intended to target dilapidated schools in India.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education has issued a strong warning banning the use of camera phones in elementary, intermediate and high schools. The punishment for breaking the new rule is a two-year ban from school. This could in certain circumstances be doubled, reported Arab News.
