Sharjah Women's College and Citigroup celebrated the success of the Citigroup Accelerated Diploma in Financial Services and Banking. The one-year intensive program covered the areas of financial services, investment services, insurance services, banking in practice, interpretation of accounts and trade finance. Eleven women have graduated so far.

Universitas 21 Global, the online graduate Business School, announced that some 60 Arab students signed up for its globally recognised MBA programme during the university's first year. Universitas 21 Global, based in Singapore, has a regional office in Dubai Knowledge Village.

The UAE's Higher Colleges of Technology have signed a deal with HUMANSOFT to provide an e-learning network for staff and 3000 students. The Thomson NETg e-learning facility will be hosted in the premises of the colleges. Staff and students will have the opportunity to explore and obtain there training anytime, anywhere, through the online facility.

Hewlett-Packard and local partner Audiviz has signed a deal to equip the Dubai Men's College with 85 HP xp8010 digital projectors. The projectors will be installed in all classrooms on the campus and their delivery forms a key element in the HCT's strategy to enhance its teaching methods throughout its various campuses.

Aruba Wireless Networks has announced that the American University of Beirut has standardized on Aruba's Wireless Grid architecture and related products to provide wireless coverage to its 70-acre campus. AUB's wireless grid is currently being installed by Aruba's reseller partner, Triple C of Beirut.

Schools across the UAE have been invited to enter the 10th Shell Better Environment Award, the country's foremost initiative aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging schoolchildren to work on projects that can contribute to the preservation of the environment. In the past four days two five-year old girls have been crushed to death by their schoolbuses in Ajman, reported Gulf News. The repeat tragedy has caused outrage among parents who said most of the bus drivers are not properly trained to deal with children.
