The Kuwait Finance House is to support a proposed Islamic banking course at Bahrain University. GM Abdul Hakim Al Khayat said that out of a total of 150 KFH employees, 60 are Bahrain University graduates, 10 of whom occupy leading positions in the company.

The Bahrain-based Baisan Institute of Hospitality Management is opening a training centre in the UAE that will focus on management, travel and tourism. Baisan uses a software application that allows employers to monitor employee performance during the course. Courses are in both Arabic and English.

Fifteen UAE national students from the Dubai Higher Colleges of Technology have been certified as emergency medical technicians after completing a 10-day training course in the US, reported Gulf News. The second-year paramedic students passed the Pennsylvania's Medical Emergency Technician examination, and completed a course in basic trauma life support.

Saudi's Ministry of Education has refused requests by some public girls' schools to build gymnasiums, saying physical education for girls would not be allowed, according to a report in Arab News. The ministry rejected as baseless recent media reports that it would soon introduce physical education as a subject in schools.

The Ras Al Khaimah police are interviewing a bookshop owner and staff for selling notes that help students to cheat in examinations, reported Gulf News. An undercover officer posed as a parent and was offered the Dhs20 notes, and police later seized a huge quantity of the notes.
