Cadillac CTS, Burj Al Arab offer

UAE Cadillac distributor Liberty Automobiles is offering a special offer on the CTS before the end of the month. UAE Toyota distributor Al Futtaim has launched an advertising campaign highlighting the danger of counterfeit parts. It says that turning a blind eye towards such parts means sleeping over your family's safety. This message is warmly endorsed by other leading car manufacturers.

Ford, pay 50pc and drive

Ford UAE distributor Al Tayer Motors is offering a pay 50 per cent and drive away any Ford model for two years. Payment can be in cash or in 24 instalments subject to approval by Rakbank. There is also a three year, 60,000km warranty and three years of free roadside assistance.

Aston Martin, new dealerships

British sports car legend Aston Martin is set to announce dealerships in Syria, Jordan and Egypt within the next six months, reported Gulf News. By mid-2004 Aston Martin will launch the all-new DB9. General Manager Thomas Kastgen said after-sales service was the key to getting the regional market right.

Dubai changes accident rules

From September 17-25 Dubai is suspending its rule that motorists must stay by their car and wait if involved in an accident. Instead the parties should go straight to the nearest Police Station to report the accident. Motorists who fail to do so will be fined Dhs100 and have their cars impounded for a week.

Mercedes, 0-100 kph 3.8 seconds

Porsches are rather slow compared to the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It rockets from 0-100 kph is just 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of over 330 kph, one of the highest top speeds of a production vehicle. A V8 supercharged engine delivers 626 bhp to a car derived from the Mercedes-McLaren Formula 1 racing cars.

New entry level Chevvys

Al Yousuf Motors has announced the arrival of two new smaller 2004 Chevrolet models, the Aveo and Epica, to its showrooms in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. With the introduction of these new models, Al Yousuf Motors expects to double its volume of Chevrolet Vehicle sales. Road closure for IMF meeting

The Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed from the World Trade Centre roundabout towards Dubai from 6am to 8pm on September 23 and 24 due to the IMF annual meeting in the city. Drivers are also advised that parking in the Dubai International Airport will be restricted between September 10-25.
