BMW Middle East is lining up a series of launches in the New Year. First will be the new 6 Series range, and then the new X3 4x4 and a new edition of the X5. Managing Director Robert Bailey-McEwan said the strength of the euro is still a particular cause for concern and was hitting sales.
The USD450,000 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren supercar will be the star of the Dubai motor show this week. A 626 bph engine powers the SLR from 0-100kph in 3.8 seconds and delivers a top speed of 334kph. DaimlerChrysler has pre-sold 150 cars in the Mideast. There is a three year waiting list. Only 3,500 cars will be made over seven years.

Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking said that group sales were up 47 per cent in the first four months of its fiscal year thanks to the runaway success of the Cayenne 4x4, now a common sight on the roads of the Middle East. More than 30,000 Cayennes will be sold this year, he added.
