Gargash plans new service concept

Gargash Motors plans to introduce a new concept of integrated motor services ranging from sales and after sales to service, body shop and used cars, said new general manager Stephen Pearce. He is expected to upgrade Gargash services across all departments.

Cadillac SRX at showrooms soon

Cadillac has launched its first luxury crossover in the Mideast, the SRX, which bridges the gap between the marque's premium entry and full size sedans and its utilities. It will reach showrooms later this year. It can seat up to seven people in three rows.

Muscat hosts motor show

The four-day Motor Show 2003 opened in Muscat on Wednesday with the latest models by some 20 leading marques on display. The exhibtion also features allied services including participation by 15 auto services and parts firms. The show is being held at a time when the 2004 models have begun to feature in Gulf showrooms.

Dubai rail to start by 2010

The proposed mass rapid transit system to reduce congestion on Dubai roads can carry 43,000 passengers an hour in each direction. Two lines will run with Red Line from the border with Sharjah to Jebel Ali and Green line from Rashidya to Dubai Healthcare City. First phase is likely to be ready by 2010.

Audi luxury sedan unveiled

The 5.18 metre long wheelbase version of the new Audi A8 Quattro was unveiled in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. It comes with powerful 3.0 and 4.2L V8 engines. The Audi A8L comes with advanced aluminium suspension, air springs and adaptive shock absorber control and the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The models are priced at about USD63,500 and USD87,800.

DWTC opens new car park

Chronic traffic snarls and parking woes at the busy DWTC complex may beome a thing of the past. The centre has opened a multi-storeyed car park with 2,014 slots. This adds to the 1,500 in the lot opposite the Tower, 432 behind Hall 8 and 732 in front of exhibition halls. DWTC expects havy traffic during Gitex which wiill run from October 19-23.

Dubai car plate auction on Oct 20

An auction of 128 customised car number plates scheduled for October 14, will now be held on October 20 at the Quality Hall of Dubai Traffic Police. The base value of the new plates will range from about USD810-16,215. The numbers are in three categories including 35 three-digit numbers.

The UAE car market has exceeded 5 per cent growth target so far this year with rates in double-digits, said Mitsubishi dealer Al Habtoor Motors. Construction activity has boosted demand for commercial vehicles and new office openings has raised fleet sales, Gulf News reported.

An Alfardan Automobiles company, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Doha, has been appointed as exclusive dealer fr Rolls-Royce cars in Qatar. The company has set up a new showroom and has launched the all-ne Roll-Royce Phantom powered by a 6.75L, V12 engine. The cars have been sold out before they arrived, the dealer said.

Bridges closure for maintenance

The Al Garhoud Bridge in Dubai wll be closed every Friday from 2-9 am until October 24, to allow for maintenance work,which began on October 3. Work on Al Maktoum Bridge will start from Octber 31 and will continue until December 12. It too, will take place between 2-9 am on Fridays.
