Jeep sales surge in Middle East

Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge Middle East saw year-on-year sales increase by a record 181 pc in July 2004. Growing demand across the region for Jeep and Dodge vehicles was the main driver. Jeep sales doubled with the popular Jeep Cherokee tripling its year-on-year July sales. Sales of the Jeep Wrangler doubled.

Audi sales rocket in Mideast

Audi Sales in the Middle East region rose sharply in July 2004, compared with the same month in 2003. Kuwait was the strongest market with an 85 per cent increase in sales, with Oman closely following at 80 per cent. For the same period, Audi also saw strong growth from other key markets with 56pc growth in Dubai, 40 per cent growth in Saudi Arabia and 25 per cent in Bahrain.

Gargash launches Mercedes C-Class offer

Gargash Motors, the Dubai-based Mercedes dealer, is offering the Mercedes C-Class saloon for Dhs1,999 per month, subject to bank approval. The offer applies to the new generation C-Class that comes with the Mercedes Direct Control system, including more dynamic suspension, steering and engine power.

Ghosn targets Infiniti at Mid-East

Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan, says the company plans to aggressively promote the luxury Infiniti brand in the Middle East. Infiniti enjoyed great US success last year, with 25 pc growth in 2003. Ghosn told LBC television that he hopes to mirror that success in the Middle East, where he says consumers value Japanese brands extremely highly.

Cadillac launches Arabia website

Cadillac has launched a bi-lingual Middle East website as part of its efforts to spearhead the brand's revival in the region. The Arabic and English versions of the site, www.cadillacarabia.com, feature new models such as the SRX sports utility vehicle and the XLR roadster.

Dubai-based Premier Shine has launched a new service that claims to restore used luxury cars to their showroom condition. The company plans to expand rapidly in the Middle East, with Doha and Riyadh lined up as the next destinations.

Land Rover MENA sales up 38pc

Land Rover, the premium 4x4 automotive manufacturer, announced a 38 per cent increase in Middle East and North Africa sales for the first half of 2004. Sales of the Discovery and flagship Range Rover were both up sharply. Dubai recordied a 19 per cent increase while Saudi Arabia witnessed 13 per cent growth.

Jaguar sales show H1 growth

Jaguar has repored a 16 per cent rise in regional sales for the first half of 2004 thanks to the continuing success of the Jaguar XJ, which tripled sales. Saudi Arabia achieved the biggest growth, with sales up 64 per cent, followed by the UAE and Lebanon both up by 35 per cent.

C-Class revvs up Mercedes sales

Mercedes-Benz Middle East increased sales from 5,345 to 5,456 vehicles in the first half of the year thanks to a 30 per cent rise in C-Class sales to 1,145 cars, and a 29 per cent boost to E-Class sales to 2,029 vehicles. Dubai and Kuwait were the fastest growing markets in the region.
