The not-so-new Golf turns 30
The latest facelifted version of the 30-year old Volkswagen Golf has arrived at Abu Dhabi and Al Ain distributor Ali and Sons. More than 22 million of this not-so-new car have been sold in 117 countries in the past three decades, but the Golf retains its market niche.
Honda, summer air-con offer
UAE Honda dealer Trading Enterprises is offering a nine-point air-conditioning system check and engine coooling system check for Dhs59 plus Dhs50 back in vouchers until June 17 for all cars up to 2001 only. There is also 30 per cent discount on air-conditioning spare parts.
Nissan, air-con check promotion
UAE Nissan distributor Arabian Automobiles is offering two free cinema tickets for Dubai and Ajman cinemas if you have your air conditioning checked during a limited period at a special low price. There is also a free upgrade to VIP seats and a larger size coke and popcorn!
Pajero, HSBC finance offer
UAE Mitsubishi agent Al Habtoor Motors is running a low-cost finance promotion until June 30 on the Pajero 4x4 with HSBC. Subject to approval there is 3.25 per cent finance, no down payment and first payment after 60 days. Plus free service up to 50,000km on the 3.8-litre, and up to 40,000km on the 3-litre model.
Keep cool with Land Rover
UAE Land Rover agents Al Tayer Motors are offering a free air conditioning and engine cooling service from June 5-10 on models dating from 2002 or older. There is a free refrigerant top-up and a free wash and vacuum, and a full inspection report.
New Maserati Quattroporte
The Maserati Quattroporte, the new four-door saloon, will be on the UAE roads this month as Al Tayer Motors begins first deliveries of the new model to VIP customers. Pininfarina designed, the Quattroporte is powered by a 4.2-litre V8 engine that generates 400 bhp, with an F1 style electro-hydraulic gearbox and an endless combination of personalized styling options.
Low-cost Daihatsu Sirion saloon
UAE distributor Al Yousuf Motors is offering 2.99 per cent finance with no down payment on the new Daihatsu Sirion saloon, which comes to Dhs25 per day, and also 13 months of insurance. The Sirion is made in Japan and has power steering, locks and windows.
Ford Mustang, free insurance
While stocks lasts, anyone purchasing a 2004 Ford Mustang from showrooms in Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah will receive one year's free insurance, and ultra-low financing with no down payment required. Last year Al Tayer Motors' Mustang sales grew by 156 per cent.
Four more Caddy showrooms
General Motors has announced plans for four more regional showrooms for Cadillac cars in Jeddah, Dammam, Riyadh and Amman. This follows the recent opening of new showrooms in Sharjah, Beirut, Bahrain and Doha. Officials said GM was working to maintain a consistent, premium image across the region.
Iraq's used-car boom
The secondhand car market in Iraq has boomed since the US led invasion in March 2003, and the UAE automotive sector has been a major beneficiary, reported Gulf News. Dealers said margins were tight but volumes substantial, and the market was now expected to move from 4x4 and pick-up trucks on to the luxury segment.
New Altima coming next week
The all-new Nissan Altima will be launched on June 6 by Nissan Middle East, and boasts a new look as a very non-typical sedan car. The designers of the 2005 Altima claim to balance style, performance and roominess. The 3.5 SE model features a 3.5-litre, DOHC, 24-valve V6 engine producing 257 bhp.
Volvo XC90 T6 now available
UAE agents for Volvo, Enterprise Trading now has the top-of-the-line XC90 T6 available for test drives. This USD64,000 4x4 accelerates from 0-100 kph is 9.3 seconds thanks to its 24-valve, six-cylinder, 2.9-litre engine. Standard options include DVD screens for rear seats, parking sensors and GSM phone.
First SLR McLarens delivered
DaimlerChrysler Middle East has delivered the first Mercedes-Benz SLR McLarens to a select group of VIP customers, said a statement. The USD430,000 supercar was unveiled at the Dubai Motor Show last December and no more than 3,500 will be made over the next seven years.
Lexus, Panasonic promotion
The chance to win one of 10 Lexus cars in the UAE, and a total of 40 in the GCC, from now until August 27 is being offered in a new Panasonic summer promotion. Every purchase of a Panasonic product in this period, above a minimum amount includes a free entry into the prize draw.
AD launch for new C-Class
The upgraded Mercedes-Benz C-Class was launched in Abu Dhabi today by Emirates Motor Company. It has an even more sporty driving experience thanks to upgraded suspension and steering. The interior and the cockpit include sophisticated new controls, improved seating and Thermatic automatic climate control as standard. Other features include a new audio/navigation system.
