Sharjah Auto Show this week

The Seventh International Automobile Show will be held at the Expo Centre in Sharjah this week from November 23-27. Among the many car makers taking part will be Al Futtaim Motors with a full range of saloons and 4x4s from Toyota and Lexus.

2005 Honda CR-V unveiled

The 2005 Honda CR-V 4x4 is to be released by Trading Enterprises in the UAE this season. The exterior has been given a major facelift, consisting of a new grille, headlights, front and rear bumpers and rear lights. For better stability and enhanced styling, the CR-V is mounted on 16-inch wheels, now standard on this model and employs the new 2.4 DOHC i-VTEC engine which produces 173 bhp.

High-tech Range Rover Vogue

Land Rover has launched the new Range Rover Vogue featuring Venturecam technology, a wireless instant relay camera, located in the front passenger side facia of the vehicle, which transmits a real time, colour picture back to the Touch screen, from where it is controlled. Mercedes, new sales director

DaimlerChrysler has appointed Johannes Fritz as Director of Sales and Marketing for Mercedes Car Group. He was previously General Manger of Jeep operations in Turkey and replaces Steffen Baumann, who has returned to Stuttgart to take up a post as head of the Iranian projects.

Ford, GM, anti-rollover for 4x4s

Nissan sales up 4pc

Nissan said GCC sales rose by 29 per cent last month to the highest level since 1998, though declined to provide the actual figures. For the first nine months of 2004 sales are up by four per cent. New models like the 2005 Patrol and Altima saloon have contributed, said officials.

Agents prepare for new CLS-Class

Over 100 regional staff from Mercedes-Benz distributors in the Middle East, the Levant and Pakistan have taken part in a six-day training program for the CLS-Class four-door coupe that arrives in the region in mid-November. The CLS 350 is powered by a newly developed V6 with 272 bhp while the CLS 500 has a 306 bhp eight-cylinder unit, and both have a new seven-speed automatic transmission.
