2005 Land Cruiser hits UAE roads
The 2005 Land Cruiser is now available at all Al-Futtaim Motors showrooms in the UAE. Designed with a new front grille, the 2005 model is as exciting as ever with the flawless performance and reliability the King of the Desert has become known for, said MD Colin Leitch.
Oman, bad driving initiative
Oman is to establish a National Safe Driving Training Centre near Muscat in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police in an effort to crackdown on bad driving. Petroleum Development Oman is to fund the USD2m centre and present it to the police on National Day next year.
New Cadillac CTS-V
The 2005 Cadillac CTS-V is about to arrive in the region, and boasts a huge 400 bhp, V8 engine. This car is a rival to the new 300C from Chrysler which is eagerly awaited by US car enthusiasts. General Motors said the CTS-V is the first in a series of high performance Cadillacs that it plans to offer the market.
Opel, pay 50pc in Ramadan
UAE Opel distributor Liberty Automobiles is offering a pay 50 per cent now and 50 per cent after two years deal on Opel models during the holy month of Ramadan. There is also two years or 30,000km of free maintenance, a two-year unlimited mileage warranty and free registration.
Ford Focus, UAE sales up 50pc
The Ford Focus has boosted sales in the UAE by 50 per cent over the past year, said officials. The award-winning compact European car has the longest wheelbase in its class, and a choice of three body styles. UAE dealers are Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors.
Grand Cherokee, amazing deal
Abu Dhabi Jeep dealer Al Jallaf Trading has launched a great deal on the Grand Cherokee which includes no deposit, three year or 60,000km warranty, seven year or 110,000km power train warranty, 13 months of insurance, free registration, and free maintenance and service for three years or 60,000km.
Nissan, free Ramadan check-up
UAE Nissan distributor Arabian Automobiles is offering a free check-up during Ramadan, free oil change, and a 50 per cent discount on parts and 25 per cent off labour, plus a free car wash coupon. Ramadan workshop timings are from 7am to 10pm.
ABPC warns on fake auto parts
The Middle East's Automotive Brand Protection Coalition has launched an English language website and is distributing 30,000 leaflets warning about the dangers of buying fake automobile parts. Officials said that fake parts could prove fatal in accidents, citing the example of windscreens which offer no protection.
Volvo S80, special finance offer
UAE distributor Trading Enterprises is offering a special purchase offer on the luxurious Volvo S80 with four C-Active chassis system. This Dhs131,990 saloon is available with zero interest and 30 monthly payments of Dhs2,230 with the balance of Dhs65,995 to pay.
Mohammed, action on traffic jams
Dubai Crown Prince General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has urged the Dubai Traffic Committee to draw up plans for a flyover on the Sheikh Zayed Road to ease traffic congestion at the Dubai Internet City. He also ordered a study for the widening of the Garhoud Bridge and an interchange linking the airport to the Emirates Road, according to Gulf News.

Al Tayer Motors in Dubai and Premier Motors in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have launched an special end-of-year promotion on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. This includes reduced prices on all models and the extension of the ongoing 50-50 offer, which allows customers the opportunity to drive a new Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle by paying only half the price.
Chevy, Ramadan cash draws
Buy a new Chevrolet from Sharjah's Liberty Automobiles during Ramadan and you could win one of 40 Dhs3,000 draw prizes. There is also a pay 50 per cent now and 50 per cent after two years option, plus two years or 30,000km of free maintenance and a three-year or 60,000km warranty.
VW Passat, zero-cost finance
Abu Dhabi's Ali and Sons is offering zero-cost finance on the Volkswagen Passat. Payments start from Dhs1,600 per month subject to approvals with no down payment, and are interest-free for the first two years. There is also free service for up to 30,000km and a buy back guarantee.
Suzuki offers Ramadan gifts
Buy a Suzuki car or 4x4 this Ramadan from UAE dealer Al Rostamani Trading claim a special gift. There is an Acer laptop with the Suzuki XL-7 and Grand Vitara V6. Or get a free 34-inch TV and home theatre when you buy the Ignis, Liana, Jimny or Grand Vitara four-cylinder model.
Pre-iftar accidents surge
Dubai Police told Gulf News that 185 accidents had been reported in the first three days of Ramadan with the pre-iftar rush a significant part of the problem. Of the 158 accidents in the pre-iftar period from 4.30 to 6pm, eight involved people being run over by speeding vehicles.
