MB, Emirates Palace promotion
Abu Dhabi DaimlerChrysler dealer, Emirates Motor Company, is selling the Mercedes-Benz S-Class from $53,094. It includes free insurance for the first year and a three-year unlimited mileage warranty. Purchases come with a free night's accommodation in the Pearl Grand room at the Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi watches speeding
The Traffic and Licensing Department of Abu Dhabi Police has added 84 more traffic radars on the emirate's roads. The radars have been placed on external roads of both the western and eastern regions. Abu Dhabi recently increased speed limits on some highways from 120km/h to 160km/h and 140km/h under a pilot project to improve road networks.
Deals on TrailBlazer
UAE Chevrolet dealers Al Yousef Motors and Liberty Automobiles are selling the Trailblazer EXT from $25,745. Powered by the Vortec 4200 6-cylinder engine, the TrailBlazer EXT features a third row of seats which can comfortably accommodate two adults. The vehicle also comes with remote keyless entry and duel zone air conditioning.
Audi sales up 59%
Audi Middle East sold 1,513 cars in the first six months of 2005, representing a 59% increase over sales in the corresponding period last year. The luxury car manufacturer is looking to strengthen its market position in the region with the upcoming launch of the Audi Q7, SUV, RS4 and Le Mans models.
Qatar traffic blitz
Qatar's traffic department recorded more than 1,200 traffic violations in the first two days of a nationwide road safety campaign aimed at reducing fatal accidents, according to a report in Gulf News. A total of 111 people have died in traffic accidents since January this year.
Jeep Cherokee limited offer
Trading Enterprises is selling the Jeep Cherokee from $20,760 for a limited period from its showrooms in Dubai and Sharjah. AA sells Renault Clio Classic
UAE Renault distributor, Arabian Automobiles, has the new Renault Clio Classic in showrooms in Dubai. The Clio Classic is powered by a 1.4-litre 98 bhp engine and is fitted with a driver airbag, power steering and mirrors, and steering mounted audio controls.
Gargash, HSBC, MB S 280 offer
Gargash Enterprises, Mercedes-Benz distributor for DaimlerChrysler in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, is selling the MB S 280 as part of a finance deal with HSBC, with prices starting from $54,233 at a 3.5% interest rate for up to five years. The S 280 is powered by a V6, 204bhp engine, making it the most economical S-Class ever produced. The offer runs to 31 August.
Mercedes sees infrared
The latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class, due to be introduced at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September, comes with a night view assist system of infrared beams in the headlamps and a camera on the windscreen. The system gives a much greater range of vision than conventional low-beam headlights, according to a statement.
Dust clouds affect roads
Dust clouds sweeping in from Iran, Iraq and Kuwait reduced visibility on UAE roads yesterday, prompting a warning by police for motorists to slowdown and take extra care on the nation's highways. Despite the hazardous conditions, no major accidents were reported.
Al-Futtaim summer rewards
Al-Futtaim Motors, distributor for Toyota, Lexus and Hino in the UAE is running a summer promotion for buyers of Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Purchases of vehicles come with the chance to win Dhs10,000 or Dhs5000 as scratch and win prizes, as well as the price of the car.
DIB 3.85% car finance
Dubai Islamic Bank is offering a special profit rate of 3.85% on car financing through its Al Islami Auto Finance. The first payment is made after 60 days, and there is a zero down payment option. Finance is available for both new and used cars.
Jaguar X-Type deal
UAE distributors for Jaguar, Al Tayer Motors in Dubai and Jaguar Abu Dhabi, are selling the Jaguar X-Type for a 5% down payment and monthly installment plan starting at Dhs1,894. The deal also includes five months of free installments under a five-year installment scheme, and a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and free roadside assistance. The offer is valid to 30 September or until stocks last.
Budget intalls GPS
Budget Rent A Car Dubai and Sharjah are putting GPS navigation systems technology in a range of hire cars. The StreetPilot 2610, a touch screen system that features malls, ATMs, hotels, petrol stations and tourist attractions, is designed to help visitors and new arrivals navigate around Dubai. Cars fitted with the device will cost an additional Dh45 per day.
Volvo reports 41% upswing
UAE agents for Volvo, Trading Enterprises, say it has increased sales of Volvo cars by 41% for the first seven months of 2005. The Swedish car manufacturer has reported a big demand for the XC90 and S40 sedans, and recently launched the V8 and V50 models. No specific sales figures were provided.
