Hummer distributor for Bahrain, the National Motor Company, will be selling the 2006 Hummer H3 from 15 August. The H3 is the more compact and cheaper model of the Hummer range, with prices starting from about $34,000. Bahrain will be the first country in the region to receive the vehicle.

Tasjeel, the vehicle testing and registration JV between Emirates National Oil Company and Dubai Police, has started issuing international driving licences. The company has been authorised to issue the licences by the Automobile and Touring Club for the UAE, the only UAE club affiliated to the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile and the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme.

BurJuman shopping centre in Dubai is staging an antique car exhibition which features classic cars dating back to 1913. The exhibition runs until August 5 and is showing a 1971 Mercedes, a 1936 Bentley, two Morgans from 1913 and 1914 and a jeep from the Second World War.

Toyota Motor Corp. and General Motors will scrap a planned fuel-cell vehicle joint venture over a disagreement on technology sharing, according to an AFP report. But the world's top two automakers will continue their cooperation on research and development in environmental technology for cars.
Nissan Middle East claims record sales during the first quarter of fiscal year 2005, with a 53% growth in GCC sales between April and June. No actual sales figures were given. The results confirm that Nissan and its regional dealers are on track towards achieving their contribution towards Nissan's global target of achieving an additional 1m vehicle sales by September 2005.

The GXR model features full-time 4WD, previously available only in the VXR range.
