AD closes Khalifa Street
The section of Abu Dhabi's main Khalifa Street between Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street and Liwa Street is to be closed for 18 months for construction works, reported Gulf News. The Abu Dhabi Police said that alternative routes will bear the flow including Hamdan Street.
Dubai roads, new executive plan
Dubai has created a new Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to plan and implement projects involving transport, roads and traffic in the emirate. It will implement an effective and integrated transport system and is chaired by Crown Prince General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

New Volvo S60, free extras
UAE agents Trading Enterprises are offering free leather upholstery and 18-inch wheels on the new 2006 Volvo S60, as well as a price reduced from Dhs112,000 to Dhs99,900. Features include: 180 bhp engine, trip computer, leather steering wheel with controls, CD player, heat reflecting windows, ABS with EBD, and advance safety options.
$1.9bn Dubai road expansion
The Dubai Government has earmarked up to $1.9bn in spending on roads and bridges this year, traffic committee boss Brigadier Nasser Al Sayed Abdul Razzak told Gulf News. But he warned that the city's traffic problems would not be solved immediately, although there would be a revolution in road works over the next few years.
Lexus GS430 2006 model
Al Futtaim Motors, the sole distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Hino in the UAE has recently introduced the 2006 year model Lexus GS430 luxury sport sedan to all its showrooms in the UAE. The GS430 has a sleek, aerodynamic sporty design and V8 4.3 litre engine with 6-speed automatic transmission, taking the vehicle from zero to 100 kph in 5.6 seconds.

Toyota releases eight-seater
UAE agent for Toyota, Al Futtaim Motors, is now selling the new Innova eight-seater sedan. The Innova has fixed foldable second and third row seats, and has a capacity to seat eight adults. It runs on a 2.7-litre WT-i engine and comes with multi-reflector headlamps and an MP3 compatible audio system.
Dentmaster opens shop in Dubai
London-listed company Dentmaster says it has signed 55 contracts with major car distributors, after setting up regional operations out of Dubai for its paintless cosmetic dent removal system for luxury cars. The company set up after research showed that the region has a lucrative, rapidly growing automotive trading and services market.
Toyota Yaris in UAE
UAE-based Al-Futtaim Motors is now selling the latest model Toyota Yaris five-door hatchback. The Yaris is powered by a 1.3-litre engine, and has a choice of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The engine sits on an all-new platform which is longer and wider than its predecessor, providing excellent handling and manoeuvrability.
DIB car loan offer

UAE mulls road test options
A public debate about enforcing a Road test for all new arrivals in the UAE has met with little enthusiasm, reported Gulf News. However, it was generally agreed that the requirement that Indian expatriates undergo such training was fair, given driving standards in India.
BMW Bahrain, 0% finance
Euro Motors, the BMW agent in Bahrain, has announced a financing offer on certain BMW models until November 15. There is 0% interest available on X3 and 3-Series models, and special rates for consumers wishing to finance a BMW for a period of more than three years.
