  • Tata buys one-third stake in Piaggio Aero

  • India's Tata has agreed to buy a one-third share of Italy's Piaggio Aero Industries, manufacturer of the Avanti II turboprop twin. The proposed investment by Tata, which is expected to receive regulatory and other approvals later this week, includes the purchase of existing shares from current shareholders and a new share offering. The Ferrari and Di Mase families and the Mubadala Development Co of Abu Dhabi, the current primary shareholders of Piaggio, will also hold about one third each of the Italian company when the deal is finalized.

  • Dodge in new Dubai football league

  • Trading Enterprises has announced a sponsorship agreement with E-Sports, launching a country-wide grass roots tournament called the Dodge Junior Football League to be held in Dubai. Trading Enterprises will provide three Dodge Durangos to E-Sports to transport players, coaches and equipment to the games.

  • BMW unveils five new models

  • BMW has unveiled five new models at the Paris Motor Show. The new models are the 7 Series, the 3 Series, BMW Concept 7 Series ActiveHybrid, BMW Concept X and a Mini Concept Vehicle. The new BMW 7 series is due to arrive in the Middle East in November and the group expects strong sales in the region.

  • Maserati have tripled their GCC sales over the past two years according to the regional Managing Director. The group has also set up a regional training centre in Dubai Airport Freezone.

  • Audi Abu Dhabi has launched a pre-owned car program called Audi Approved: plus. The deal offers 1 year extended warranty, region wide roadside assistance as well as the possibility for vehicle trade-in. Ali & Sons Co.Motors Division has reportedly invested nearly $500,000 for the launch of th program, including a stand-alone showroom in Mussafah.

  • New Cadillac Escalade Platinum to go on sale in ME

  • The new ultra-luxury Platinum Edition of the Cadillac Escalade is set to hit Middle East showrooms in the final quarter of 2008. The Escalade Platinum will be one of the most technically advanced SUVs with the addition of segment-first LED headlamps, offering greater lighting with reduced energy, and the world's fastest-acting suspension - Cadillac's Magnetic Ride Control, which gives more precise body motion control, according to a press statement.

  • New Volkswagen Passat CC to debut in November

  • The new Volkswagen Passat CC will mark its debut in the Middle East in November 2008, according to Volkswagen Middle East. The company says the new Passat CC represents a brand new segment in the automobile industry combining the rationality of a saloon and the emotional appeal of a sports coupé. The Passat CC will come to the Middle East with two TSI engines. The first one is a 1.8 litre engine with a power output of 118 kW / 160 hp (at 5,000 rpm). The other is a 2.0 litre with a power output of 147 kW / 200 hp (at 5,100 rpm).
