Jaguar's XKR Limited Edition arrives in Jordan
Mahmoudia Motors has announced the arrival of the Jaguar XKR Limited Edition, a lightweight sports coupe produced exclusively for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market. With a limited 30 units being sold in MENA, the XKR Limited Edition is only be available as a coupe. The XKR Limited Edition is capable of reaching 0-100 kph in 5.2 seconds
BMW growth up 5%
BMW reported growth of 5% year-on-year in Middle East Sales for 2008, and has unveiled plans for further regional expansion in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Nearly 16,000 vehicles were sold by BMW Group in the region last year, with Iran recording the largest market growth in sales up 191% and Dubai recording the highest number of sales with 4,421, followed by Abu Dhabi with 2,463.
Porsche Abu Dhabi sales up 45%
Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi, a division of Ali & Sons Group, has announced record sales of 1,100 Porsche cars in 2008, a 45% increase on 2007. The sales have increased across all models, with the Cayenne range dominating. Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi forecasts sales of 1,300 cars in 2009.
Renault Symbol arrives in Saudi
Renault GCC has recently launched the new Renault Symbol in Saudi Arabia. The car represents the evolution of the successful Clio Classic. The new Renault Symbol boasts higher levels of comfort and safety and benefits from the same suspension as the Clio II. The car features the latest-generation engines that power all Renault's entry level models (Twingo, Clio and Modus), providing best level fuel consumption and performance.
Al Habtoor tops Bentley dealerships
Al Habtoor Motors' Bentley Emirates division has become the number one dealer of Bentley Motors worldwide for 2008, the company said in a statement. Al Habtoor Motors has a established a separate division for the sales and after-sales of Bentley cars in the UAE.
Banks raise salary limits for car loans
Banks in Qatar and the UAE have raised the minimum salary limit for customers seeking car loans. HSBC has introduced new rules in both countries that stipulate that all applicants must have a minimum gross salary of 20,000 dirhams ($5,500) or QR20,000 ($5,500) per month to obtain a car loan. This is double the 10,000 dirham and riyal ($2,500) requirement in November last year. The Doha Bank asks for a basic salary of QR7, 500 ($2,000) a month and for the applicant to have been employed by their company for two continuous years.
Mahmoudia is exclusive Volvo dealer in Jordan
Mahmoudia Motors announced it has become the new exclusive dealer of Volvo Cars in Jordan. The Amman showroom is located on Arar Street in Wadi Saqra and is open six days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Audi sales jump 21.2% in 2008
Audi Middle East said it sold 7,732 vehicles in 2008, compared to 6,380 in the previous year, an increase of 21.2%. With 2278 units sold in 2008, the Audi Q7 SUV remains Audi's best seller, followed by the Audi A6 and A8 with 1745 and 1215 units respectively.
Ford sales jump 30% in UAE
Sales of Ford cars rose 30% in the UAE last year despite the global economic slowdown, the company said. Across the GCC, sales of the company's Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands grew by 23%, boosted by 40% higher sales of SUVs and trucks, the company reported.
Jaguar sales rise 35% in Middle East
Jaguar finished 2008 with sales of more than 65,000 cars - an increase of 8% over 2007 and one of only a handful of automotive brands to report a year-on-year sales increase, the company reported. In the Middle East, sales were up 35%, said Mike O'Driscoll, Jaguar's Managing Director.
Land Rover to support Arabian leopard project
Land Rover is to provide its LR3 class vehicles to Biosphere Expedition for its Arabian Leopard research project. The expedition takes place from January 18 to February 13 in Wadi Uyun, Dhofar. David Aziz, director, automotive, Mohsin Haider Darwish said: 'Land Rover LR3 vehicles will enable the Biosphere Expeditions team and all participants to access some of the most remote and inaccessible places in the Dhofar region of Oman.'
Arabian Automobiles to spend Dhs7m at DSF
Arabian Automobiles, exclusive dealer for Nissan, Infiniti and Renault in Dubai and the Northern Emirates has announced its 2009 Dubai Shopping Festival sponsorship with a total promotion spend of over Dhs7m as compared to Dhs6.5m in DSF 2008. During DSF, Arabian Automobiles is offering customers a chance to win one of four Nissan Qashqai SUVs with the purchase of a new car.
BMW raffle at Qatar golf tournament
A brand new BMW 320 will be given to a lucky spectator at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, which will be staged later this month at Doha Golf Club. The winning ticket will be drawn by the tournament champion after the prize presentation on January 25. The luxury car draw is being sponsored by Qatar Duty Free.
Rental car demand up 20% in Dubai
Rental car demand in Dubai has climbed by up to 20% in the past few months despite the financial crisis, Moried Al Taher, Chairman of Discount Rent A Car, told Emirated Today in an interview. He said the rise in demand was due partly to stricter rules that banks have implemented for car loans.
Renault launches all-new Symbol in GCC
Renault GCC has introduced the all-new Renault Symbol to the region. The car, which has the same suspension as the Clio II, marks the carmaker's fourth launch for 2008 after the Clio F1 team R27, Renault Sport 197 and the recent Renault Safrane launch. The Symbol is powered by a 1.4 16V petrol engine with four-speed automatic transmission.
