Cadillac Escalade Platinum to go on sale in ME

Car plate auction garners Dhs23.5m

At an auction organised by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), total proceeds exceeded Dhs23.5m. The number plate E 30 fetched Dhs4m while there was also fierce competition for the number plate F 100, pushing the price of this to Dhs2.3m.

EMC unveils new Mercedes-Benz S 600 Pullman Guard

Emirates Motor Company, Mercedes-Benz general distributors of Daimler Middle East and Levant in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and the flagship company of Al Fahim Group, has launched the Mercedes-Benz S 600 Pullman Guard, a new luxury limousine designed to serve government leaders, captains of industry and royalty in the capital of UAE. The car owes its remarkably spacious interior to its 4315-millimeter wheelbase and an overall length of 6356 millimeters. It features a 12-cylinder biturbo engine and has been tested and certified as a vehicle with the highest protection status.

Abu Dhabi to showcase Chevrolet Malibu

Chevrolet will be displaying its new Malibu model at the Abu Dhabi Motor Show to be held in December. The car has won 30 industry awards this year, including Car of the Year at the North American Car and Truck of the Year Awards held in Detroit. The car will be available in three models the LS, LT and the top-of-the-range LTZ in the Middle East.

Land Rover goes green

Land Rover has launched a CO2 offset initiative in the Gulf and Levant which will offset the first 72,000km of customer use on all Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover LR3, Land Rover LR2 and Defender vehicles sold in the Gulf and Levant from October 1. After the 72,000 km mark customers can opt to continue to offset their mileage.

New Toyota showroom opens in Oman

The Saud Bahwan Group has opened a new Toyota facility in Mabela in Oman. The ultra-modern showroom is designed to display Toyota and Daihatsu vehicles and is complemented by a parts outlet and service facility with customer lounges. Hyundai unveils luxury line in UAE

Hyundai has launched in the UAE its Genesis luxury sedan recently in an event at Madinat Jumeirah. Genesis is an investment of approximately $600m and is the culmination of four years research and development. Mercedes Benz GLK launched in Dubai

Gargash Enterprises, distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah & Northern Emirates, recently launched the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLK in an exclusive unveiling ceremony at the Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai. The new GLK was revealed in a large-scale inflatable dome, or 'launch arena', offering guests the opportunity to experience the GLK on a custom-made driving track. This is a new launch concept in the Middle East, and will take the form of a road show, moving around the region, according to a press statement.

BMW X6 sales beat expectations

Sales of the new BMW X6 in the Middle East since its launch in March 2008 has exceeded supply in a number of key markets, the carmaker has reported. So far this year, the company has sold 1,259 units of the X6 across the region, already nearly selling out its full year's production allocation, said Phil Horton, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East. BMW Group Middle East is confident of even stronger sales in the fourth quarter following the recent arrival of the X6 xDrive50i engine variant. The new model features a more powerful 4.4-litre V8 twin turbo engine with a maximum output of 407 hp. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250km.

Re-vamped Mercedes M-Class launched

Nasser Bin Khaled Automobiles, the authorised general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Qatar, has recently released the new-generation M-Class in Doha. The car has a front-end re-designed bumper, re-contoured headlamps and a dominant radiator. The new interior look includes high-grade material, a two-tone colour scheme and a new four-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
