'Peony' Rolls-Royce on offer in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Motors, the sole dealership of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, is offering an exclusive Bespoke Phantom, called Peony, which has been specifically designed for UAE customers. It features a two-tone exterior of Pearl Blue with a contrasting Moonstone Pearl Blue and Seashell interior. The Peony leaf motif, in traditional Oriental blue and yellow, is used throughout the vehicle, featuring as an exterior logo along with interior wood trim inlay and oriental art door capping.

Abu Dhabi Motors 56% up in H1

Abu Dhabi's exclusive distributor of BMW, MINI and Rolls- Royce has posted a record sales for the first half of the year with 1,432 units sold between January and June 2008. The sales were 56% higher than the same period in 2007, and the highest growth rate in the GCC for BMW Group. Top three selling models were BMW X5, followed by the BMW 5 Series and the BMW 7 Series.

Bespoke Renault launches in KSA

Zahid Tractors, distributor of Renault cars in Saudi Arabia has launched a bespoke model of Renault sedan tailored specifically for their market. This new Renault sedan uses VQ engine - a 2.3 liter V6 that delivers a smooth 170HP at 6,000 rpm. The configuration is a development of the alliance between Renault and Nissan. The model will be available in Zahid Renault showrooms by end of August.

Gulf sales boost car makers

Sales of luxury automobiles in the Middle East are helping to boost the bottom lines of carmakers who are seeing sales struggle in the US and Eurpope, reported The National. Lexus UAE reported a 50% increase in year-on-year sales for the first half of this year, while Lexus sales in the US were down by 15% for the same period. Abu Dhabi Motors, whose brands include BMW and Rolls-Royce, reported a 36% sales growth last year, as well as the third-highest sales volume of any Rolls-Royce dealer in the world. Sunil Oommen, the assistant sales and marketing manager for Honda in Dubai, said car sales are being boosted in the Gulf by the sheer number of people who are coming into the region.

Dubai may ban smoking while driving

Dubai may become the first city in the Middle East to ban smoking while driving, reported Khaleej Times. A road safety strategy for the emirate, which is being prepared by a Sweden-based consultancy company, is likely to be implemented next year. The strategy would focus on several traffic safety issues, including smoking while driving, said Hussain Mohammed Al Banna, director of Traffic Department at the Roads and Transport Authority. However, he declined to comment on the kind of penalty, if any, to be imposed on violators.

A Dubai police chief says parents need to stop buying their sons powerful sport cars and paying their traffic fines as these indulgences are encouraging 'nonchalant and dangerous' driving attitudes among young men, reported The National. In the first half of this year, 433 road accidents in the emirate, resulting in 65 deaths, were blamed on drivers aged from 18 to 28.

Benz sales 91% up in Abu Dhabi

Emirates Motor Company has posted a record-high sales performance of 222 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in June 2008. The sales at EMC Marina Mall Showroom witnessed a 91% hike and the highest Mercedes-Benz sales performance in 2008, and the highest ever reached by EMC. C-Class and S-Class vehicles achieved the highest sales.

Kia July sales up 24%

Bespoke Rolls Royce lands in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Motors (ADM) has taken possession of a bespoke Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, featuring gold metallic exteriors with a stainless steel bonnet, teak decking and twin coachlines. It also features a gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy and has the Rolls Royce logo stitched into all headrests. Audi to expand in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabian Marketing and Agencies Company, agents for Audi cars in Saudi Arabia is planning to open an integrated complex for Audi cars in Al Khobar city. The complex will be inaugurated in November 2009 and will house the regional headquarters of the company, a large showroom for new car models and a 6,000-sqm Audi Service Centre.
