  • New luxury car 'Galue' unveiled

  • Galue, a new Japanese luxury car, has been introduced to the UAE market by the Al Otaiba Group, reported Khaleej Times. The hand-made car is manufactured by Mitsuoka Motor Co. Ltd, the 10th largest domestic car maker in Japan. Six and four cylinder models of the car will soon introduced in the UAE soon for the mid-sector market.

  • Lincoln MKZ hits Bahrain roads

  • US car-maker Lincoln has launched the new MKZ sedan in Bahrain, reported Gulf Daily News. The MKZ is a five-passenger luxury sedan with a powerful 3.5L V-6 engine and its safety system includes standard driver and front passenger airbags, seat-deployed side airbags for thorax protection, and three-point safety belts at all seating positions, with front-seat retractors. A full-length safety curtain also provides head protection over the length of the window glass area.

  • Saudi women: 'We will drive'

  • Saudi women activists began a fresh effort to get a ban on women drivers lifted in 2008, handing in a new petition to King Abdullah urging him to end the restriction, reported AFP. Signatories of the petition 'hope that 2008 will be the year in which Saudi women obtain their natural right to drive a car,' according to the document. The petition follows a similar one sent to the king last September signed by more than 1,100 Saudis. Women in the Kingdom cannot travel without the written permission of their male guardian, who could be the woman's grandfather, father, uncle, husband, son or brother.

  • BMW Gran Tourismo unveiled

  • BMW has recently introduced its highly anticipated Gran Turismo concept car to the Middle East, reported Gulf Weekly. Designed by Karim Habib, a BMW exterior designer of Lebanese origin, the new model is a unique four-door car - combining the exclusivity of a genuine luxury Gran Turismo with the thrill of a high-performance sports car.

  • Trans Jordan Aqaba opening

  • The Trans Jordan Car Rental Company, which operates the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands in the kingdom, has opened a new branch in the Red Sea port of Aqaba. Trans Jordan, which currently has a fleet of 190 vehicles, is looking to ramp this figure up to 300 as it opens more outlets across the kingdom.

  • Nissan sees sales spike

  • Nissan Middle East recorded its highest monthly sales for 22 years during November. The firm sold 12,550 units during the month which is a 23% spike over the same period last year. Nissan is hoping that its regional sales will continue to rise in 2008 with the recent launch of new models such as the Altima sedan and coupe and the Xterra, Qashqai and Navara sports utility vehicles.

  • Kia Picanto in Bahrain

  • Bahrain's Bin Hindi Group, the kingdom's authorised Kia dealer, has taken delivery of the 2008 Kia Picanto, reported the Bahrain Tribune. The compact five door model offers twin airbags and an anti-lock braking system as well as CD and MP3 players. Customers can pick up the Picanto for a monthly instalment of BD58 according to Mohammed bin Hindi, General Manager, Kia and the Chief Marketing Officer of the Bin Hindi Group.

  • Pay fines by credit card

  • Motorists in Dubai can now pay their traffic fines electronically, via credit card, following the Dubai Police's recent tie-up with the Electronic Services Department, reported Gulf News. Drivers can now either pay at kiosks located at various shopping malls throughout the city, or they can log on to Dubai Police's website at www.dubaipolice.gov.ae
