Alfardan Sports Motors Company has launched the Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic in Qatar. The new Maserati features a 4.7 V8 engine which develops 440 HP (323kW) at 7000 rpm. The maximum torque is 490Nm at 4.750 rpm. The new Maserati also features the Skyhook suspension system, a new generation of passenger air-bag, under-door mini-skirts, and new 20' wheel rims (standard) with the brand new 'Trident' design.

Abu Dhabi Motors said it is the first importer in the world to officially take delivery of the new BMW Alpina B7 Bi Turbo. Based on the BMW 7 Series, the exclusive model is the newest high performance model from Alpina and features a fully-aluminium, 4.4 litre V8 engine that yields 507bph (373 kW) at a moderate 5500rpm, with a maximum torque of 700 Nm available between 3000-4750rpm.

Saudi Arabia, which imported more than SR38bn worth of cars and spare parts in 2008, is expected to see a 5% increase in auto sales this year, surpassing the 545,000 units sold last year. The kingdom has 1.8 million of the estimated four million cars in the GCC, the report said.

Key features of the new Milan include an improved powertrain line-up that offers a choice between fuel-efficient V6 engines, 6-speed transmissions, a 12-speaker Sony audio system and 17-inch wheels. The new model also has 6 standard airbags, ABS, Advance Track electronic stability program, electronic temperature control, and the SYNC in-car entertainment and communications system.

Qatar has taken a 10% voting stake in Porsche Automobil Holding, as part of a deal that was announced last month, Reuters has reported. It is part of a broader agreement which will see Porsche eventually merge with Volkswagen, Europe's biggest carmaker.
Five BMW 1 Series Sauber Edition cars are available in the UAE, through distributor Abu Dhabi Motors. They are a version of the BMW 135i, featuring racing stripe decals from BMW's 'M' performance range, as well as special performance brakes, exhaust, aerodynamic packages, modified rims and a suede steering wheel. Worldwide, only 200 of the cars have been produced.

Qatar's Mannai Trading Co's Pre-Owned Automobiles Division has reported a 200% increase in sales of certified and uncertified pre-owned cars in recent months. 'We have made a number of key changes that are responsible for our recent successes,' Fadi Al Aawar, Pre-Owned Vehicle Manager, has said. 'We now maintain a varied inventory of all kinds of cars for customers, not just the GM brands,' he noted.
Volvo Cars Middle East has launched an initiative to raise safety awareness and reduce car-related fatalities. The 'All Those Left Behind' campaign will invite people to share their experience of losing a loved one in a car crash. The stories will be gathered and published on a dedicated web site.

General Motors' operations in the UAE have announced that the all-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is now on sale in Al Ghandi Auto, Bin Hamoodah Automotive and Liberty Automobiles Co. showrooms across the country. The Camaro is available in two trims in the Middle East. The LT has a standard 3.6L Direct V-6 engine that delivers 323hp (gross) and propels the car from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds. The SS model comes with two 6.2L V-8 engines. The manual transmission puts out 462hp (gross) while the automatic transmission packs 441hp (gross). Both launch from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a torque of 408 lb/ft.

The Qatar Investment Authority has bought a 6.78% stake - or over 20 million voting shares - in German carmaker Volkswagen Group, as part of a plan to take a 17% stake of the company. The shares are now controlled by the investment authority and three of its holding companies in Doha, Luxembourg and Amsterdam, according to a regulatory filing. Once it has completed its 17% acquisition, it will be the third biggest shareholder in VW.

Sharjah Municipality, in coordination with Bosch, has confiscated and destroyed more than 30,000 counterfeit auto parts claiming to have been manufactured by Bosch and other German brands, following raids on two warehouses. Some of the fake products had been prepared for shipment to neighbouring GCC countries. Bosch said workshops, retailers and customers should ensure any Bosch product has its KeySecure label, which consists of a hologram and a unique 15-digit code. Sharjah Municipality said the dealer caught in the raid had been banned from participating in a major - but unnamed - regional automotive exhibition.

Audi Middle East has launched the R8 5.2 FSI Quattro into the region. The sports car has a 5.2-litre engine, delivering 530 Nm of torque at 6,500rpm and a maximum power output of 525bhp at 8,000 rpm. It goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 316km/h. The R8 V10 also includes a Bang & Olufsen stereo and speakers and a navigation system, all-LED headlights, six-speed manual gearbox or a sequential R tronic transmission.
