Kuwait bans phones while driving
- The Kuwait government has passed a law banning the use of mobile phones while driving, effective May 1. The law will make phone use while driving a traffic violation. The law is being introduced because of the number of accidents caused while people are talking on their mobile phones.

Benz facility opens in Kuwait
- Albisher & Alkazemi Company has opened new ExpressService facility on its Ahmadi premises to provide service for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. the facility has three dedicated work-bays to cater to all jobs that can be completed within one hour. The company is the sole Mercedes-Benz general distributor for Daimler AG in Kuwait.

'Green' sports car unveiled
- A 'zero-emission' sports car with a top speed of nearly 100mph was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, reported BBC. Lifecar is a hydrogen-powered sports car based on the design of the Morgan Aero-8 roadster. It produces little noise and only water vapour from its exhaust. Its advanced fuel cells and energy storage system give the car a range of 250 miles (400km) per tank of hydrogen. It has been developed by a consortium of UK companies and universities.

Lexus LX570 launched in UAE
- The flagship luxury SUV from Lexus, the all-new LX570, has been launched by Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive distributor for Lexus in the UAE. The overall wheelbase of the new LX570 remains unchanged from its predecessor, but the interior and exterior length have been increased by 80 mm and the width by 20mm, to create a more spacious and comfortable space for up to 8 passengers and their luggage. It also features a power-sliding second row seat, a powered third row seat, a premium Mark Levinson audio system with 19 speakers, a rear seat entertainment system, Active Cruise Control, and a navigation system.

Altima rated best in Saudi Auto
- Nissan Altima has achieved the best-in-class award from Saudi Auto Magazine as the best Japanese Sedan in the Middle East. The magazine conducted an independent Dyno test performance evaluation to establish independent benchmarks in automotive performance in Saudi Arabia. This is the first time a Dyno test performance was conducted in GCC by an independent body in conjunction with an Arabic automotive media title. Dyno testing measures the engine and transmission performance, and the overall rating included an evaluation by the Saudi Auto magazine editorial team.

Jeep launches new Cherokee
- Chrysler Jeep has launched a new model - the 210 bhp, 3.7 litre, all-new Jeep Cherokee 2008 - at the opening of its new showroom in Abu Dhabi by Western Motors, the sole distributor of the US-based automaker for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The model, which is priced at Dhs105,000 ($28,600) is Jeep's seventh after Patriot, Wrangler, Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT8 and Commander.

ENOC opens SuperLube in Bahrain
- ENOC Lubricants has opened its first SuperLube Stand Alone facility in Bahrain in conjunction with the Bin Hindi Group. ENOC's local distributor, the new facility, named ENAYA, is the first Stand Alone SuperLube service centre outside the UAE. The facility serves as a one-stop shop for motorists to include oil changing, car washing, light mechanical, electrical, car detailing and other consumer services.

- Alfardan Automobiles has provided a luxury fleet of BMW cars to the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation to be used as VIP transport, medical, shuttle and media transport, as well as for race direction at the Losail Circuit for the Commercialbank MotoGP Championship.
