Dubai ambulances misused

Dubai ambulances have been misused by private sector hospitals which have been able to use them free of charges, officials told Gulf News. The new fee system announced in July should correct this situation, they added, and will allow the service to be improved for patients.

The Dubai Hospital has introduced a new reception counter system in a bid to reduce the waiting times for patients, with different areas for similar cases. Under the new system patients are either get to see a doctor after a short time or get an appointment for another day.

RAK hospital, low privacy standards

The Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah has been criticised for poor standards of privacy. Gulf News reported that women in labour often have to put up with strangers coming into a room where beds are only separated by curtains. Local officials told the newspaper that the hospital was in violation of regulations.

Gulf hospitals admit many cases of dehydration the in the summer months with tourists and construction workers the main casualties. Dubai hotels even put extra bottles of water in rooms to remind people to drink more. Doctors say drinking more water is the only real way to avoid dehydration, although staying outside in summer temperatures is not a good idea in any case.

RCA supplies for Iraq hospitals

Bahrain creates HealthNet

Batelco and the Bahraini Ministry of Health announced the HealthNet project. This involves setting up a virtual health network connecting patients with healthcare providers and enabling access to a number of projects designed to help the community such as tele-medicine, a health portal, a health call centre, health messaging services and a private care HealthNet project.
