Dubai residents have been warned against using a deadly fumigant inside homes following the death of an Indian expat, according to Gulf News. Specialists say pellets that release phosphine gas can penetrate walls and even threaten neighbouring homes. The substance can only be bought under licence but some supplies are entering the country illegally.

The Emirates Airline Foundation has signed a contract with Friendship, a registered non-governmental organisation, for the management of the new Emirates Friendship Hospital ship in Bangladesh. The ship will be used as a floating hospital in northern Bangladesh for communities isolated by the annual monsoon flooding of the Brahmaputra River.

Consultant Physicians, a Saudi-based medical joint venture partnership, has opened a branch in Dubai Healthcare City which will offer consultancy and outpatient services, reported Gulf News. The centre has the latest technological equipment, and will be the first in the UAE to use a 4-D ultrasound machine to monitor foetal abnormalities.

Welcare Hospital in Dubai says it administered some form of treatment to almost three-quarters of the total number of players at this year's Dubai Rugby Sevens tournament. A record 1,435 players received treatment at the ground, with 19 referred on to the hospital for more serious injuries.
