The Dubai Executive Council has been directed to form a team to draft a comprehensive system of health insurance within two months, reported Wam. The order from Dubai Crown Prince General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said the team should also include Dohms and the Department of Economic Development and the Finance Department.

The UAE is planning to set up a national heart register to keep track of coronary artery disease in the country, reported Gulf News. UAE residents and nationals are developing heart disease on average ten years earlier than in the West, due to taking up risky behaviours such as smoking at an earlier age, according to consultant cardiologist Dr Wael Al Mohammad.

Oman's director of the National Aids Prevention Department, Dr. Ali Ahmad Baomar told Gulf News that the disease is under control in the sultanate. He said 1,300 cases have been registered since the disease was first discovered in 1984, with one in 10,000 Omanis now HIV positive.
