CABSAT 2004: Sony Broadcast
- Sony Broadcast has been demonstrating its new XDCam at CABSAT 2004. The revolutionary camera records video onto an optical disk rather than tape, resulting in instant access to media files. Sony also reports success in Saudi Arabia for its videoconference technology, and identifies High Definition Television as a key product area.

Autumn Fair 2004 up 10%
- The 18th International Autumn Trade Fair 2003, being held at Dubai International Exhibition Centre from 10-14th January, reports a 10 percent increase in exhibitor numbers this year. China has the strongest presence, exhibiting the maximum 210 companies. Mauritius is a new entrant this year in the national pavilions, sponsored by the Mauritius Industrial Development Authority.

- Air Charter has been based in Dubai for a decade. The company specialises in wet leasing, where crew, maintenance and insurance are provided. Air Charter's managing director Stuart Wheeler says growth in the regional market is strong, as executives recognise the time benefits of chartering a corporate jet.

Air Show: Lufthansa Technik
- Lufthansa Technik is opening a new office in Dubai to support regional customers, and has signed an MoU with Emirates to explore greater cooperation in technical services. Lufthansa Technik also recently introduced an in-flight broadband wireless internet service, in assocation with Connexion By Boeing.

Air Show: Bombardier Learjet
- Bombardier Aerospace is celebrating 40 years of the Learjet. Since its launch in October 2003, more than 2,300 Learjets have aircraft have been delivered worldwide. Bombardier has been displaying its new Learjet 45 XR super-light business jet at the Dubai Air Show.

Air Show: Embraer
- Brazilian manufacturer Embraer has signed several large deals for its new regional jets in America and Europe, and now hopes for success in the Middle East market. Embraer's E170 and E190 family of jets are designed to fill a gap in the market for 70-110 seat aircraft.
