IBM enables on-demand learning
- Students at Dubai Men's College will have access to some of the most advanced educational technology in the world when their new campus opens in September. IBM Global Services is managing the project, which includes a fully online multimedia library and video conferencing. Dr Samer Shaar, IBM's General Manager for the Middle East, Egypt & Pakistan, outlines the company's focus on regional IT education.

Etisalat wins Saudi mobile
- A consortium led by UAE state telco Etisalat has won the new Saudi mobile license, with the highest bid of US$3.457 billion. The deal includes GSM and 3G licenses. Etisalat's Senior Executive Vice President, Obaid bin Mes'har, says the focus will be on the 65% of the Saudi market still without a mobile service.

Acer shows off new models
- Computers hit the catwalk as Acer introduced its new Folio laptop range to the Middle East. Acer has maintained is sales lead in Saudi for the third consecutive quarter, with 22.3 percent market share. The company hopes its new product range will help it move into first place in the UAE too.

Channelling a clear strategy
- HP launched its Solutions Partner Organisation (SPO) earlier this year, as part of its new channels strategy. Hazem Bazan, its new manager, is in charge of managing channel partners and systems resellers, as well as commercial distribution. HP recently extended its channel distribution into the Iraqi market.

Industrial data goes online
- A wide range of GCC industrial data is now available online, on a new website from the Qatar-based Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consultancy (GOIC). It features six major databases, including Foreign Trade, Industrial, Socio-Economic and Investment Opportunities. HP Edges forward

Sun rises with Excellence
