Senior Iraqi officials suggest that some of the US-imposed contracts will be reinvestigated for possible corruption once Iraq regains full sovereignty. Former Communications Minister Dr Haider Al Abadi says it will take an estimated US$1.7 billion dollars to rebuild Iraq's communications infrastructure, but only US$600-700 has been secured to date, far short of what is needed.
